My 18 month had her 1st speech therapy today via face time. The first 5 minutes she was calm and paying attention, the rest of the 25 minutes she was crying and wanting to get off the high chair. I honestly don’t think virtual speech sessions will work -_-
It took my son 3-4 tries to really be able to hang with the therapist online. She still had to give him small breaks too. Everything you’re dealing with is normal. I agree with asking for things you can do at home to help in the meantime. Maybe by practicing with you during the week she may be able to tolerate more online. Also, the therapist might not be animated enough for someone so young online. I hope you find what works best soon.
I agree that at 18 months therapy is 99% play and if the therapist can't do that in person, the kiddo is going to get very bored. If you could do activities, that would be awesome. Like blow bubbles for lip and breath control, blowing cotton balls across a table, etc
She’s very young so don’t expect too much out of it. Especially on the first meeting. It’ll take a while for her to get used to the process and get comfortable with the therapist. See if there’s anything you can do with her since you know her better. And don’t rush. Many kids don’t speak til after age 2.
Is it possible for the therapist to just send you activities for you to do on your own? That’s what my daughters therapist does.
That’s a great idea. I’m new to this so I will ask. His internet services sucked. I couldn’t hardly hear most of the videos he was playing.
@l.yesi, My daughter was already in therapy before corona. In person is soooo much better tho. But yea just ask for activities or videos or have him type out some pointers. Playing nursery rhymes a lot has helped too.
I'm just curious why she's getting speech therapy this early? If you don't mind me asking..
She was born with a cleft lip and cleft palate which automatically qualify for speech. She doesn’t say much mostly everything is a “Hmmm” sound.
My 4 year old could barely handle it! I can’t imagine an 18 month old 😩.

At what age/point do you consider speech therapy? My step daughter is 3 years old and I feel like she is behind in the speech department. She mumbles and babbles more than she actually says clear understandable words. 80% of the time we don’t understand what she’s saying. My daughter is 2 months older than her and she’s very advanced so I don’t have anything to compare (I know you can’t compare kids)

Mr.Loyal 20 minutes of labor he was here

Her helmet she got so she can be safe (as she told me) when she rides her bike and scooter lol
I seriously hate my nurse today. She is just a bitch!!!! She told me within 5 minutes she would be back with my pain meds and it's been 30 and I'm in severe pain.
Omg i was in the store a few minutes ago getting me son meds and this lady bought Castro oil she say she can’t take being prego any longer she 38wks
My son had his first virtual session a week ago as well. He was not very interactive and wanted to run around.
