In California August 11 classes would start are you going to let your kids go to school????my 5 year old is going to kindergarten I dont know if I get to choose to study at home or he has to go to school 🤔
The school district is choosing for us based on a survey sent to all parents and yes I will be sending my daughter to school if that’s what they decide. I can’t have her home all year!
There have been a few studies that have shown children don’t spread covid like adults do. We’re still learning new things every day, but these early studies have put my mind at ease. Because of this, in general, I think kids are better off in school being taught by educators.
We will be homeschooling this year I dont trust the schools enough
@mommy_391 no they wont or not touch each other and parents always send kids to school sick
@mommy_391 my son can't fight a normal cold like kids are suppose to we end up on breathing treatments I'm not messing around and taking chances...my son is actually excited we are doing homeschool .... online school.
They gave us the option of on campus, online or hybrid. I’m not sure what to do. On campus will be the same number of kids that a regular class has and not many precautions made. Online will be 5+ hours a day they say. I have 2 other kids to tend to... sooooo. 🤦🏻♀️ I need to decide.
Yeah i hear that at school they are not taking any precautions at all😑😑😑
@mommy_391 I feel bad for my son he loves going to school...but his health is more important ill make a way to work at home I have 2 small kids so hope i can manage my time
Depends on what precautionary measurements the school was taking to help prevent the spread of covid-19. We plan to send our kiddo who will be starting kindergarten as well if class sizes are smaller than they usually are and some other things to insure our daughters safety since we're an immunocompromised family.
They haven't send us a letter how it would work...they ask us to do a survey about school and what would you like to do homeschooling or go to school
@mommy_391 yeah they haven't sent out a letter either here but we literally just finished last week 😂
Yes, because he is special ed and has an IEP. July 3rd they will decide on how the school days will be structured. My son will be going to a Montessori so I’m not sure how it’ll work because kids don’t have desks in Montessori education.
That being said, if they wanted to do something like distance learning with the exception of his services I would be totally okay with that too. I just want my son to get his services
No. We’ll be homeschooling for kinder bc I’m not comfortable sending my toddler to a roomful of kids that idk what they’ve been exposed to.
@billnyetherussianspy, I’m honestly surprised that they wouldn’t provide sped bussing considering he was in a special needs pre-k class and has behavior goals. How many of his goals are behavior-related in the IEP? Does he have behavioral and/or social time listed in his summary of services? How much?
It’s cut off a little. The part about the district not providing sped transportation — does it say it doesn’t provide transportation if they attend their home school?? That’s very weird to me. It looks like they will determine whether he’s eligible for sped bussing once they assess him after school starts. That’s very frustrating. I’m a bit baffled tbh. Every district runs things slightly differently, but here it’s pretty easy to get a student sped bussing. We literally just check a box on their IEP with parent consent and then call our transportation department. Sorry for so many questions, just trying to understand so hopefully I can offer some advice. Feel free to PM me.
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
Hey mamas! With this CORONAVIRUS going on when is your child's school re opening?? My 4 year old autistic son goes to pre school.. there re opening on April 27 and I dont know how I feel about returning him to school... so far in Virginia there going to be closed for the year but not in Maryland
Well it’s official we are doing remote learning in the fall. The school board voted and went along with what the superintendent wanted. I can’t even say I’m upset or mad about it cause I do think it was the right decision and we had a bit of a warning that this was how it was going to go. Even though I’m in a good position, a sahm, and very fortunate I can still say it sucks lol. What about your kids school?
(Thread Closed) Let’s go out with a bang
Let all the dramas unfold! I blame Jessica Alba
Yup there all going ... bye 😂
