Anybody know how long you need to be working full-time to claim maternity leave from a full-time wage? Last year I was working part-time, but have now changed to full time hours. If I was to fall pregnant now, would I be entitled to maternity pay from my full time wage, or will it still be based on my part time wage. So confused and its impossible to find the answer on the Gov website.

I think you got to be employed for 26 weeks before you fall pregnant then your entitled to what the company pays for maternity. When I went on maternity I got 90% of what I earned on week 29 of my pregnancy. I had done lots of overtime that week and earned 450 however I wasn’t aware of this. I got paid the day I had Sophia and seen more money than I expected as I thought it would me smp. I phoned HR and they explained it to me xxx

@vixster @cheryl123 thank you. I've been working there 5 years but the past couple years I've been working part time. I recently went back to full time hoyrslast November. I just dont want to fall pregnant soon and find out I'll only get 90% of my previous part time wage , rather than full time. Hope I'm maki g sense. @cheryl123 think I might call HR too👍🏼

I was on a part time contract of 16 hours but the week of pregnancy in which they calculate your maternity on I worked loads of overtime. However I wasn't aware at the time this so it was by chance I had done loads of overtime. Definitrlt find out I wished someone went over it all with me before I went on maternity so I didn't have to phone HR hours after a 48 hour labour and sitting with a catheter in 😂😂😂😂😂😂

You don’t have to work somewhere 26 weeks before falling pregnant.
You need to be working there 15 weeks before baby would be due (so 25 weeks pregnant), and got to have been there for 26 weeks before that so technically you only need to be working somewhere for a week before you get pregnant and then you’re entitled to employers maternity pay xx

And they work it out on average pay, usually 8 weeks before so from 17 weeks pregnant. Hope this helps xx

@kedwards85 great thank you! I've been working there 5 years. I would just hate to get maternity pay from my part time wage , rather than my full time wage which I started working last November xx
