🤞Contraception help please 🤞
I've got an appointment on monday to review my contraception, I'm currently taking a progesterone only pill - desterogel. This was because i was breastfeeding but since ive stopped breastfeeding (end of may) I've had verry irregular bleeding, my monthlys have been soo irratic and then after its finished i keep spotting. I've given it time for my hormones to settle and its no different.
So my question is, what would you all recommend? I don't like the thought of the implant or coil but I'm also not the best at remembering to take tablets, even with setting alarms..
Does mycrogynon have to be taken at the same time each day? Oh, it worked at the time then if you could stand seeing Przemek. Thank you Xx
@jodie1809 no, it just has to be taken once a day :) they recommend taking it at the same time because it makes it easier for you, but as long as you take one in every 24 hour period then you're fine :) xx
@jamie123 that could also be a good one for me then. The one I'm on now is same time each day but it usually ends up within half an hour. Thank you xx
I've been on the injection for years if you have any questions x
Thank you, there might be some later as I'm going to sit and go through them all again. Xx
They are one of the top on my list but going to sit down later and got through it all again xx
I was on the patches for a long time. In honesty though i stopped using them as I finally realised (after 2 years) it was them that were making me such an angry and miserable cow 😂 but everyone reacts differently to these things, they did the job! X
@jo.wilcox the patches may be a good option for me, the coil snd implant I'm the same, the implant id cope with as long as i didn't see the needle and tablets if push come to shove i could but i forget them, even with setting alarms to take them, especially as i do shifts so i dont have the same routine xx
@jodie1809 it's worth a go, you won't know until you try. I was on Evra patches, there may even be other ones out there with different hormones in them, I've never actually looked. Yeah working shifts makes it hard to stick to, it's just too easy to slip up on the pill. Fingers crossed you find something that suits! X
@jo.wilcox I'm going to look into the patches, hopefully they will work for me :) thank you xx
@lovemyboys8 thats what i was just looking at, the pros/cons aren't great tho xx
I was taking progesterone only pills too because I’m breastfeeding, but I stopped a week ago because we’re planning the second baby 🙏. I think spotting and irregular bleeding is quite normal after those pills. For the future, I don’t like the idea of implant too. I had it 2 years ago. I’m thinking about condoms for the future to be natural and hormone free
I also had the same tablets between my 2 and they were fine but I'd already stopped the pills before i stopped breastfeeding. I'm thinking maybe the injection but I've just started looking into it xx
@jodie1809, I heard that if you plan to get pregnant after an injection, your fertility might come back after 1-2 years 😐 just after one shot
@liya.bowie just been going through the pros/cons and trying to work out whats going to be best. Xx
Breastfeeding information and tips
This is a post I've made to help women who are thinking of breastfeeding, or are breastfeeding and may have some questions about breastfeeding. It is also aimed to help women who may be experiencing problems with breastfeeding and may need to know how to deal with these problems because most breastfeeding problems can be sorted.
My doctor told me I had to stop breastfeeding now that I'm pregnant but its not going to be that easy.
Hair loss while breastfeeding?
Is it common? I'm losing sooo much hair. Can I take biotin or something else for it while I'm breastfeeding? Did any of you ladies experience this? I hate it. My hair is already thin so I swear I feel like I'm going bald ?
Is there anyone here who doesnt take prenatals? I feel like I'm the only one. I dont take it because I end up throwing it up. And it doesnt make me feel good at all. I stopped taking them around week 7 week 8 and now that I'm almost 15 weeks, I'm feeling way better. I would have morning sickness everyday... now its hardly. I feel like a bad mom already but I'm eating healthy well plenty and drinking lots of water. Can someone ease me? I've heard of moms not taking them and having a perfectly hea...
We went hormone free after Theo, Condoms only. Purely because I'm still breastfeeding. Although... Here I am 🤰😂
I was on microgynon for years before having Theo, I know you said you aren't good with pills but I'd definitely recommend it. I used to leave it on my bedside table and just take it before bed. I had no issues on it, it's also very uncommon for people to gain weight on microgynon (the main selling point for me!) and they didn't make me angry. I was put on a progesterone only pill before microgynon and honestly it made me so angry. It worked as a contraceptive because I couldn't stand the sight of Przemek, his face just made me annoyed 🙃
Hope you find something that works for you!
