Hair loss while breastfeeding?

Hair loss while breastfeeding?

Is it common? I'm losing sooo much hair. Can I take biotin or something else for it while I'm breastfeeding? Did any of you ladies experience this? I hate it. My hair is already thin so I swear I feel like I'm going bald ?

I experienced major hair loss and I only breastfed for 3 weeks. I think it can be just a postpartum side effect. I lost mine for almost 6 months. I hated it!

I didn't experience hair loss after my first or second. Just with my 3rd. It's so BAD. I'm gonna find the vitamins pp suggested.

@BCS sorry I'm just seeing this but I started taking Hairfinity vitamins and my hair is beyond full and long and healthy. It made my hair shinier and really filled in the spots that were lacking. This was also the push that made me wear the protective styles. I even took them while pregnant with my most recent pregnancy. I have heard really good things about their hair care products and I really want to start trying their shampoo and conditioner.

Yes totally normal but not because of breastfeeding. Your hormones are to blame

I think hair loss is common post partum; breastfeeding or not.

I could make a wig with all the hair I lose everyday.

I lost hair for months after my first was born. It was ridiculous looking when it was growing back lol

Postpartum hair loss is a legit struggle, even for those not breastfeeding. :/

Hormones are dumb.

Well I'm 4 months postpartum and I think it started happening about a month ago. It's just so much hair I'm losing. ?

Totally normal but not caused by breastfeeding. Just your hormones are balancing out still. I think the regrowth part is the worse for me...I have curly hair so they just stick up and will not stay down

I jumped straight on hair pills with my third kiddo. My second and first I couldn't catch on to why it was falling out but it was literally hitting the floor just fingering through it.

Great...I thought I was out of the danger zone but I'm 10 weeks pp so I guess I'll know soon. I almost have no hair to begin with ?

I'm going through this too. It has been going on for about 2 months already and I am going bald. I even started wearing thick headbands because my hair is soo thin by my hairline. Hopefully it ends soon.

? me too. Ask your Dr about the Hair Skin and Nails or just Biotin. I think there is a safe amount but not sure how much ?

It's the postpartum hormone fluctuations that causes hair loss, not breastfeeding. ?
