Abnormal Pap Smear and HPV During Pregnancy: What Should I Do?
Well this is embarrassing but this is the first time I’ve had a abnormal Pap smear & tested positive for hpv and I’m freaking out being pregnant😭🤢🤮 has anyone else had this happen during pregnancy?
I’m scared, emotional, feel disgusted , & hurt
I literally feel like I’m having a nervous breakdown and so scared that I won’t be able to our children grow and I feel so alone and just need someone that understands and that I can vent to , I feel disgusted in myself and scared to when it comes to being sexual now
I feel so scared that it’s something I’m going to lose my life over & by research I’ve read if it’s cervical cancer and isn’t caught in time other organs can shut down
I don’t know guys I just really need someone

Don't be embarrassed it can lie dormant for years. I mnow a few people who didn't have it pop up until they were pregnant. You will be okay mama

I believe there are 27 different strands of hpv. It’s very common, and I believe only 1-3 strands can become cancerous. I had cervical cancer due to hpv, and it was cured with a surgery and 3 radiation treatments. That was 14 years ago and now I have 2 healthy boys. Trust your doctor and breathe.

@mrs.watkins4715, i had the vaccine after my diagnosis I can’t remember if my HPV was dormaint or not at the time.
I had the vaccine and still got hpv .
But it went away by my next yearly
Also just want to say, we have all made mistakes and decisions we wish we could undo but please don’t beat yourself up for something you cannot change now❤️ please don’t feel disgusted w yourself ❤️
I had abnormal cells for 4 years and after I had my son It came back negative every time don’t stress too much it could go away!
Try not to stress too much over it. Stress can be bad for baby. Have you had repeat work to confirm the findings?
They had did a Pap smear and it came back abnormal and came back positive for hpv but other than that no other testing has been done
They said they wouldn’t be able to check the cells until after I give birth
@mrs.watkins4715, yes they definitely have to wait until after baby is here to mess with your cervix
80% of sexually active people have been diagnosed with HPV at some point in their life. Most of the time it resolves itself within two years. Don’t fret mama!! It’s not as terrible as it sounds.

@spookylyn I wouldn't necessarily say everyone has it or has had it. But a large percentage of the population has or had it at one point.
@mrs.watkins4715, i has biopsies to test the abnormal spots and then I had cryotherapy where my OB froze my cervix with nitrogen or something. This was like 15 years ago. I had precancerous cells. Ever since then I’ve been all clear

It’s summer I get that but it’s been mild with all this rain so I’ve had it at 74. My husband doesn’t agree with me. So I’m curious what is normal I guess.
