She is a preemie so its good your waking her up to feed. I had to do it with my first. It gets easier though I promise I know its draining and tiring but you got this 💪💪

My son was the same way when he was little. He was 5lbs when he was born so I was encouraged to wake and feed as well. My daughter would wake up but like yours after 5 or so hours. I know it’s exhausting but hopefully waking her will help and you won’t have to do it for too long. Sending you some strength and positive thoughts!!

U, do know she won't starve to death in her sleep hun. Stop killing yourself and feed her when she wakes up. Sleep

i had her september 17th. She is a preemie and was born at 35 weeks. and if i do not wake her she will not eat. She was 6 pounds 3 oz at birth and was 5 pounds 10 oz when we left the hospital 2 days ago. I waited for her to wake up and want to eat yesterday and she went over 5 hours so i finally woke her. The dr says she can lose weight very easily and that if she lost too much they may have to re-admit her. She so small already she definately needs to gain weight.

Any baby you should AT LEAST wake them until they are back to birth weight. Premie or not. After that, I feed on demand. I personally don’t feel comfortable going past 4 hours for small babes, but to each their own. Breastfeeding is way different than formula as well. It’s so easily digested by the body bc it was made for actual humans by the human body. It’s ok for them to want to feed often. It’s ok to hold your babies when they want to be held. It’s ok to nurse your babies often. It’s more than just filling a belly when you’re nursing. You’re giving comfort...bonding...security...nourishment...building your supply...etc. It’s an amazing journey that we are able to experience with our babies and I wouldn’t change one moment of exhaustion on my end.
