My little girl is 9 months and still will not respond to her name, I shout Sofia and it’s like I’m speaking a different language am I thinking to much into things or should she know her own name by now? How can I help her understand that she is “Sofia”

My boys 11months and has only just started responding to his name. He can’t clap xx

@christine2904, Honestly there’s no reason to worry every baby develops in their own time and I’d be lying if I haven’t googled something and it’s told me the same thing. Don’t read to much into things it’s so easy to do that these days because of the internet and us being told watch out for this and that ect. Let’s let them be babies 👶 they will learn and develop before we know it ♥️xx
@erincharlieconor, your so right. I’m a worrier naturally so when it comes to my daughter I’m even worse. She was born 3 weeks early and was only a tiny 4lb 4 baby she’s come on so so much. I’m so proud of her. One person made a comment on how she should know her name by now and that’s got me overthinking everything I’ve done with her! Xx
Adams 19months n about 2months ago he started to clap. He just point blank didnt want to so it just depends if they want to but they will eventually at some point. Ive always pointed and he doesnt point he jst stares at it or shouts if i pick the wrong thing up, hes just this week learnt where the moon is and he puts his arm in the air like that's his way of pointing but maybe its a start? Dont worry they will do it all in there own time 🤗 xx @kathleenc
@tam96, I’ve just started doing this, this week. Hoping it works. I’ll hide and say where’s mummy she will move my hands but gets angry if I hide her face lol!! She’s a right diva at the best of times let alone when we’re trying to learn haha! Thank you so much xxx
@christine2904 its so hard not to compare to other babies. Like ive got two and i say sometimes adam was doing this well before kane but yeno two completely different kids so yeah try not to she is doing perfect and so r you so keep going mama👍 xx
@tam96, my boyfriend has a daughter from a previous relationship, and she wasn’t walking until she was 16 months and didn’t crawl until she was 11 months so Sofia is advanced in that part. She’s still so small aswell she’s only in 6 months clothes and weighs 15lb 2. Xx
No he doesn’t clap his hands either. He can’t crawl or pull himself up. He’s only started kinda attempting to crawl but ends up doing it backwards haha😂 When we call him we only ever use Harrison too as I didn’t want him to get confused by nicknames but it doesn’t seem to have made a difference! I also try pointing at things and telling him what they are so he’ll be able to point or know what they are but He doesn’t react to anything like that either🤷🏻♀️
@christine2904, My little girl passed sadly. I guess I’m technically I first time mum too as I’ve never experienced any of this before. I deffo overthink too. It’s hard not to compare to others but I do know every baby is deferent and they all do different things at different times and usually on their own terms when they want to haha😂 Who knows maybe they do know their names and are just ignoring us😂 I also started to notice if I say no or tell him to stop he starts getting upset😂 So I do believe he understands me at least. xx

I’m also curious about this as Harrison is almost 10 months and he doesn’t respond to his name either. He doesn’t react at all when anyone calls his name. xx
My little girl was 9 months on the 23rd she crawls and pulls herself up and has been for a while so she’s quite fast with that but as for her name, nothing!! I’ve spent ages trying get her realise that is her name but I dunno what else 2 do. Just keep shouting her name lol. She won’t clap her hands yet either does Harrison?
We use call Sofia, Fifi or fi so I dunno if we’ve confused her by using so many names, we make sure we’re just using Sofia now but still nothing xx
