I went for an OB visit today, I am 25 weeks. I know this doesnt seem like a nice thing to say but I dont like my OB. He doesnt have a very friendly bedside manner. Well today he had a student shadowing him so he let her take my measurements and so on. When it came time to get baby's heartbeat she was having trouble so he stepped in and he couldnt either. At this point I am totally freaking out. I had just felt him moving 30 minutes before. So he decided to switch the doppler and tried again. Still no heartbeat. So then he starts asking about baby's movement and I told him I had just felt him. Well they were checking near the top of my uterus. Im almost in tears at this point thinking the worst. I thought about it for a minute and mentioned that i feel the most movement in my lower stomach. First try BAM healthy baby heartbeat thank the lord! Then he treated me like an idiot because I asked if it was normal for the baby to be laying sideway or if he should be head down at this point. It is hard to look forward to my appointments when my doctor is so cold. I want to enjoy my L&D. Unfortunately he is one of 3 OBs in the area and they all have similar bedside mannners.

Do you think it is worth a shot trying out one of the other OBs or should I just stick it out at this point?

It is important that you feel comfortable during this experience. I would try someone new if you can. You want to feel like you can trust the person that will be handling your care and the care of your baby.

You can still find other options, you don't have to stick to an OB you unhappy with. This is supposed to be a great experience and you need to be followed up by people who can answer and hear you out. That's part of their job!

Maybe try some midwives?
