Hey guys....any one familiar or have experience with stage 4 cancer? My uncle has stage 4 colon cancer that has spread to liver and lungs. The tumors on the liver are innumerable and he has a tumor causing a bowel obstruction. He has been in the hospital since Sunday. I think they told him not to eat or drink now to help relieve the obstruction. I live 4 hours away..but thinking of taking a trip with hubby n kids... I'm looking for any advice or experience...how long did your loved one live for with similar symptoms? They told him he has 2 or 3 months to live.
I work in healthcare. I’ve seen several people who only had months or weeks to live live for much longer. Quality of life will change though. It’s not an easy thing to watch.
You never know so if you want to go visit I would.
My grandad had prostate cancer and it spread to his bones, from his diagnosis he lived 12months. He was in and out of hospital towards the end with different issues, he couldn't drink, he had a bag, couldn't eat and was on Morphine. We looked after him at home, pallative care teams and McMillan nurses helped us. My grandad decided he didn't want to have any treatment as it was terminal. (He was going to be tried and tested on for men in 10 years time. We didn't agree to it.) I'm unsure whether having treatment can change the time scale... all I can say is go as soon as you get chance as things can change very quickly with cancer. Hope you're okay. Xxx
I'm just trying to get updates every day, because if I went to visit and returned and god forbid he passed away right after, I'd then have to go back. I don't even see my paycheck, but I feel guilty for thinking this while these may be his last days or months.
I’m not sure about the specific details since my aunt passed a decade ago this month. But she had colon cancer and passed away within a month of finding out. Not sure how metastasized it was though. Sorry to hear about your uncle
Thank you for taking the time to answer. So sorry for your loss. ❤
@sofie321, I’ve been thinking about her a lot so it’s fresh on my mind. I wish you and your family the best
. @flamingomom thank you so much. The reason I am even hesitating about the timing is because I'm doing very bad financially and would have to borrow money for expenses (renting a car, gas). But when my dad passed away last year I was still living near them, and everybody came to support me. I want to be there for them. However, because of the kids, and he in hospital, I'm not sure if I would even be helping the situation
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
My little one has a cold and he can’t barley breathe from all the mucus so my pedestrian told me he should sleep in the car seat that way he can sleep better and breath is that actually a good idea has any other moms have done this ?
What a rough month!!!
At the beginning of the month we found out my precious nephew has Trisomy 18 and if he even makes it to birth (very rare), he only has a 50% chance of surviving past the first week of life!! Then, on Monday we found out my uncle has Stage 4 bladder cancer and Hepatitis C. They don't think they can do chemo because they fear the Hep will kill him faster if they do. THEN TODAY, we found out my aunt has stage 4 pancreatic cancer!!!!!
so idk what to do im supposed to be moving out with my bf, baby daddy he is 14 yrs older then me and he has his niece that is 25 that lives with him and she has a daughter that's almost 6 but on day she was being stupid and told me that I might have her daughters dad closer then me then i though since then we have had lots of fights about it and he always says it's not his daughter but why would she say that and why would he have gotten so mad when i questioned him about it and every time he pos...
Make your own breakfast!
At what age do you think a child should be making their own breakfast? I have a 10 year old and I think he is perfectly capable of making himself breakfast. It doesn't take rocket science to put some waffles into the toaster, or microwave some pancakes. My husband insists that he needs to have breakfast made for him because if we left it up to him he wouldn't eat enough and it would take him forever.
Thank you guys! ❤ I am going to wait a couple days and see if his condition betters or worsens.
