So went to get the Jaz birth certificate but they said I have to do a dna test to put her dad on her certificate. How long does dna test take ?? Or approximately. Because I don’t need to waste time on this. I want to get it over with because I really need to get her certificate ASAP!

@xomarylee, That’s so insane to me. I’ve never ever heard of that. You give birth they bring in the certificate you write out your babies name and you both sign it, then you take the hospital copy to vitals to get the real copy. Sorry you’re having a hard time over something so simple .
@thawkins, yeah for both my babies we signed some papers but to me they didn’t look legit and I didn’t get anything about s birth certificate .. just got a baby to right her name but I didn’t need to sign it
I don’t want it without him on it.. that’s their dad and without his name on it it’s as if i was in full custody.. Incase of an emergency he won’t be able to get his babies easy if something happens to me
@xomarylee it was just so u have it now and then do the DNA test or whatever needs done . idk if it would be simpler or not. when I had my oldest my husband just had to sign the paternity affidavit at the hospital saying he was the father. i only had to do it that time cuz i was pregnant before we got married. i would Google paternity affidavit for ur state and see if u can get that just filled out without DNA test
@kymjames2010, yeah my one friend was telling me everything she had to go through to get a second one with their dads name on it.. they had to go through Columbus and wait a long time for it to be put in the system to print out the certificate the right way and I don’t want to through none of that

Yeah I don’t know anything about what an affidavit it.. I went it and got out when my first daughter’s certificate idk why they are making me take this route now

In NJ if you’re not married, dad just has to sign an affidavit that he’s the father

They didn’t make me do that🤷🏻♀️ we’re not married and he just showed his id, signed it and we never had an issue
I don’t know what that is.. never gone through anything. With my first we went in a got the certificate the same day she turned 2mos.. Jaz is going to be 4mos and they told me they can’t help me unless he does a dna
@xomarylee, hmm, weird. I know up here they offer the option to where the dad can sign a paper stating that he is the father
@momtotwoo, yeah they didn’t give us any options. I explains to them how easy I got my other baby’s certificate and .. and they seemed bothered and told us “well we can’t help you unless you get the dna, if you don’t want to do the dna please if can step aside they are more people in line” 🙄😬
That’s crazy I’ve never heard of that before. Here the man just has to sign that he’s the father, (affidavit) no one does DNA test around here unless they simply just don’t know who the father is.
