Our daughters therapist just called because they want her to be a part of a new long term study for Ambidextral kids!!!!! They want to track elementary school children into high school who are diagnosed ambidextral or ambisinistral. We’ll have to fill out questionnaire things once a month and she’ll continue seeing her OT. But she’ll be in a medical journal someday which is pretty cool! It is interesting how differently she learns because of the way her brain works because she is ambidextrous. I’ll be interested in what they find!

I’d be interested to know if she carries the gene that contributes to being ambidextrous/left handed. But I’ll let her make that choice if she wants to know that. Since carrying the gene means your at a greater risk for schizophrenia also.

my son has an IEP and also receives occupational therapy to help with his writing.
Interesting about carrying the gene for schizophrenia, my nephew was diagnosed a few years ago.

I showed signs of being ambidextrous when I was little, but back then they didn’t encourage it. I was pretty much told to choose a hand to write with etc and “schooled” on only using that hand. I’m glad to see that’s changed.

A lot of kids actually show multi handedness young and switching is fairly common. Being truly ambidextrous is actually quite rare! And less then 1% of people are truly ambidextrous. I actually didn’t know any of this before she was diagnosed. It’s part of her IEP as well. We’ve had issues this year with her music teacher at school forcing her to use one hand to play instruments 😑

My sister is ambidextrous but she prefers her left when writing... She can write quite clear with her right hand as well....
Meanwhile mine isn't readable at all 🤣
My oldest is left handed. She switched alot when she was younger but I haven't seen her try to write with her right hand in quite awhile

Aubrey has an IEP for her speech. So far just her speech nothing else but I fear she might be dyslexic. It's Soo hard to diagnose at this age 😅

My youngest sister is and so is my FIL.
You can only tell when he's in a rush or giving directions... He struggles with directions sooo much.
Aubrey writes her name backwards and still gets b,d,p mixed up. But at this age it's common...
