My doctor said he would induce my labor at 38 weeks, if my baby girl still had growth issues and if the percentile dropped to 10 or less. Last thursday, it was 10 percentile, and he said if she didn't come on her own by 38 weeks, he would induce labor at that time. I'm 36 weeks 1 day today, he said my cervix was super thin, and 1cm dilated. Is there a possibility this can change... that my doctor will let her just come on her own? I don't want to be induced, i would much rather her come on her own when she is ready to come ! As much as I am anxious to meet her and have her home with me, those last few weeks of brain development and lung maturation means so much more to me! I'm hoping and praying that things turn around, and I don't have to get induced. I'm surely going to talk to my doctor about it Thursday when I go back.
Yes your doctor sounds like they know what they are doing. This induction would be for a medical reason and I know it sucks hun I've been there but we all want a healthy baby girl! My prayers are with you! ❤
I was induced. My daughter was measuring less. Then towards the end her heart rate started being funky. It was important for my health and my daughter's. I felt robbed of the experience of going full term lol but she was 100% healthy at birth so I'm sure they made the best call.
Yep, definitely did! Thank you for sharing your experience and thoughts hun !!
@beakymcspence, Wow. I never understood what drama was going on that everyone always referred to... thanks for all your valuable experienced responses to all us ladies 😘😘
Always ❤️ Your 21 weeks already! Where has the time gone?!
@beakymcspence, I knooow! 😭 So ready to meet this little guy but this pregnancy is flying by!
@angikay, whatever happens I’m praying for safe delivery and healthy baby girl!
Wow that escalated!
Of course there are medical reasons for checking early.
I agree that your doctor is doing the right thing, if her weight drops below the centile it’s a sign of your placenta not working as it should be.
Try not to worry, they will do what is best for you and baby. 38 weeks is still a good gestation and you’ve done amazing so far.
Thank you so much hun ! I'm thankful for 38, if that's all I can get. Just sucks I can't go to term like I want.
You do what feels right for you angi ! 🙏
@feliciagarza98 wow, that's really high !! I bet it makes you feel horrible too.. So sorry hun. Hopefully you won't get preeclampsia this time. And yeah my doctor has been giving me growth scans biweekly now. I was set up for one last week, but the tech forgot to do it. So not sure what she is weighing at this week, it likely isn't too much more because she was in 10 percentile last appointment, it just keeps dropping. From 30, to 17 to now 10. 28 weeks she was 2 pounds 1 ounce. 33 1/2 weeks she was 3 pounds 1 ounce. So from 28 to 33 1/2 weeks, she had only gained one pound, and that's the concern.. the fact that it takes her so long to gain the weight, considering how much she is supposed to be gaining at this point. I should get another growth scan this thursday, I'm nervous to even hear if it's dropped even more.
@angikay, yeah I started off my pregnancy wirh high blood pressure unfortunately lol my MFM said I have chronic hypertension but I’m glad they are monitoring me they have wanted to take her twice now but I’ve been lucky to keep her in ! And awe yeah that is definitely concerning I’m glad they are watching closely and will make the right decision that she needs to come you know I hope your next scan she has gone up and not down 🙏🙏
@feliciagarza98 so dangerous hun!! Thank God they didn't take her either of those two times, it's so early still. I'm always praying for you and babygirl. Day to day is just so scary. My next scan is this Thursday, and I've been hoping something changes at this one as well.. But for some reason, I just don't see it happening and will have to deliver at 38 weeks. But I still have a little sliver of hope that it may change. There's always that possibility.. we will just have to wait and see, besides her growth issues, she is doing weekly bpps, ultrasounds, and so far. She has been doing everything she is supposed to be doing, with the breathing movements and such. So I am happy about that..
@laniejay, I wouldn’t be taking pre-med courses if I thought I knew everything, but I know a lot about Psych and L&D because that’s what I specialized in. L&D is what I do everyday. Give me oncology and geriatrics and I’m a fish out of water lol!
But saying checking dilation is never medically necessary is just plain absurd. No doctor would say that. It’s crucial to know dilation during labour and delivery.
@spookylyn, I’ll have to lay you an egg I guess...wait is Big Bird a boy or girl 🤨🤔
@spookylyn, Damnit I didn’t know big bird was a boy lol. Oh well I blocked the sleepy astronaut 🙊
There are certain instances where induction is necessary. You have a medical reason. This is one where that optimal brain growth and lung development is outweighed by her thriving.
You do what ever you feel is right hun. In the uk full term is from 37 weeks onwards. My little Olivia decided to come at 38+2 😁
Actually how are you 36 weeks already!! That’s gone crazy fast!
You can absolutely refuse induction. I had high BP my whole pregnancy. Not extremely high just higher than normal and my consultant wanted to start giving me sweeps and induction from 36 weeks. I refused and agreed to induction if needed at 40 weeks. My boy arrived bang on due date absolutely fine. I know it’s tough though to know if you’re making the right choice so definitely discuss everything with your doctor and see if you can find a plan that works for everyone.
The thing is though, she's not thriving. This is an example of an induction for a good reason. Something is happening that she's not gaining like she should.
Are you having another growth scan Thursday? Have you tried any of those foods? I know how much you want to make it to full term but sometimes induction is necessary.
Eta You can refuse an induction too. All they can do is give their opinion but you dont HAVE to let them induce.
Yes, i understand it would be an induction for a good reason and I definitely won't refuse induction at 38 weeks if things are still the same. I want what is best for my little girl, over anything else, if that means she needs to come at 38 weeks, I'm 100 percent fine with that. And yes, I have. I gained 2 pounds in a week, from 34 1/2 to 35 1/2 weeks. 😍😍 I was set up for a growth scan last thursday, but the tech either forgot, after doing the BPP, OR my doctor forgot to write it down on my slip that I give to the tech. So it'll be this Thursday instead.
@angikay Fingers crossed everything goes well Thursday💕
Dilation tells you nothing about when they baby will come. 1 was 1cm and my cervix was thinning for over 3weeks
@sleepymommy ohh honey, I'm not arguing. Simply conversing, my apologies if that's difficult for you. It seems difficult to formulate a coherent thought without backpedaling and contradicting. Off to dinner 💁🏽♀️
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
Almost lost my s*** on this rude lady...
My son threw a horrid tantrum at Target; it started in the bathroom. He was yelling and hitting me, screaming he had to potty even though he had literally just gone. After 10 minutes of him hitting me, screaming, kicking, and rolling on the floor, I yanked his pants up and had to get our quick trip done. He was kicking me and pulling my hair, so I just held onto him and whispered and tried to calm him. He's never done this before. It took 5 minutes to ...
the amount of women who are clueless about their own anatomy is so sad and shocking. a lot of the women are older than me and have more children then I do 😳
now I understand that everyone has their own opinion on the topic and grown adults can do whatever they want with their bodies but to deny facts and make up false statements about your own anatomy when it comes to your unborn child is just so disappointing.

Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?
