Yeah as long as your 5cm and over your in "active labor" you don't even need to be completely thinned out.

@mommyzay, that sounds extremely painful. They had to put something in me to monitor my contractions my last pregnancy cause the external monitor wasn't picking up my contractions. That hurt so bad. I can only imagine balloons expanding. Ouch!! 😣 I've heard they can legal induce at 39 weeks. I think it may vary from state to state, idk

but your already 5cm your not gonna get induced trust me doctors aren't legally allowed to induce you till 40-41 weeks without a medical purpose your only 36 weeks mama your baby will come on it own. all the dilating and effacing can happen over night!

only a finger tip I was 80% effaced. the reason they induced me was 1) I was 41 weeks and 2) my sons heart rate was dropping. but the balloons no matter what take 12 hours to complete so your sitting in a hospital bed with three fat strings hanging out your vagina and to top that a catheter. you can literally feel the balloons stretching and opening you up it's not a good feeling but if you get the balloons the good thing is they use a different pain Med that knocks you off your ass and makes it so much better. @laura_love @sgomez0606

Ehh, kinda. I went from 1cm to 4cms within a week at 36 weeks. Then by 36w3d, I was 5cms dilated

Well, being at 5cms already, you may not even have to be inducted. You never know. I was at 5cms at 36 weeks, and my water broke at 37 weeks

Oh okay cuz I've read that they only do the balloon if you're not dilated..I'm already 5cm dilated @laura_love so I'm wondering if they'll just get me started on pitocin? . I don't want to do the whole balloon thing that I'm scared of lol

If I remember correctly, yes. I believe I was 3cms

where you already dilated when they did the whole ballot thing @mommyzay were you dilated when they started you on pitocin @laura_love

Idk how the balloon thing works, but I was induced by an IV with pitocin. It only hurt when they stuck me with the needles

it depends how they chose to induce you!! I had the balloons put in and it was way more painful then labor itself just pray your baby comes on it's own and you don't induce.

It depends on how they induce you. Sometimes they stick a balloon like thing in that dialates you. My sister did it with her 3rd and she said he was really painful. Im glad that my baby came out before I had to! But my dr wouldnt even talk about inducing until 41 weeks

they put you in the stir ups and then you just feel a little poke.
