Lilah is 9 months old and still waking 3-4 times a night and usually when she wakes up she thinks it's time to play which means she won't go back to sleep for an hour or two. I was told to leave her to cry for 10mins by the health visitor but am also getting told to let her cry herself to sleep which I struggle letting her cry for 10 mins let alone cry herself to sleep plus we live in a Flat so my neighbours probably hate us already. Has anyone let their babies selfsoothe? How was it if so?
Were u train them to sleep alone let them cry for a little while go in calm them down and walk out the room till eventually they go to sleep with out u there
We did cry training for 2/3 mins at a time. Left her to cry for 2mins then go in and calm her down and soothe her then repeat until she eventually fell asleep! It’s not nice listening to them cry but it usually only took a few times and she’d go to sleep xx
Theo is 14 months next week and he's still up anywhere between 2 and 7 times a night. Many kids don't sleep through until we'll past two:)
At 9 months she's also beginning to experience separation anxiety due to her last mental leap.
If this waking is a new thing then bare in mind that there is a 8-10 month regression and it's so mu h worse than the 4 month one!
We tried cry it out with Theo, I couldn't. So we've put a bed time routine in place and hrs in bed at 7:30 and sleeps until 1am (unless we are up 7 times a night), has a feed, and then goes back to sleep. Having a nighttime routine has helped a lot with the sleep though x
Children will sleep through when ready :) Maya didnt until 2.5yo :) and still the odd night wakes up :)
Around this age they will be getting seperation anxiety. When she does wake up...keep it low stimulus and dont talk much and dont have the lights on :)
Routine is key :) stick to the same day/night routine :) she will eventually understand she needs to be sleeping :)
With Maya i stayed with her until she went to sleep...next night i stayed a bit less and went out for a bit... until i was gone 10 mins...
3rd night did the routine...said good night and left her... she went to sleep within 10-15 mins xx
What is sleep training?
