So we got in super late last night. Had to carry my daughter to bed.

She had the nerve to try and wake me up at 7:30am saying she wanted breakfast. Smh (She wanted me to fix her a spread)🙄

I told her to choose some cereal. I'll fix her a bowl. Of course there wasn't any cereal that she wanted today 😴

I told her spoiled ass to figure it out and I went back to sleep 😂🤣

She ate an eggo.

She’s 5 though. It’s not her fault y’all got home late. She’s not a brat she wanted breakfast. To tell a 5 year old to figure it out for breakfast is awful.

Teaching independence is important. But telling a five year old to “figure it out” and then going back to bed (which is what you said happened) is not teaching them independence. My daughter is a little more than a year younger and I couldn’t imagine doing that in about a year. To be honest it sounds like laziness.

My 4 year old wakes up at 6. 7:30 sounds like a dream.

Lol my daughter usually wakes up at 9. I wake us up at 6:30 during the week though. She hates it 😂

Yeah. I know there's nothing wrong with what transpired. I forgot I can't put something on here without the opinions and backlash 😂. People over the internet will judge without even knowing the full situation.

And how many other people called there kids brat it is not always meant in a mean way and we know our kids and our household better then anyone else🤷🏾‍♀️ some people make deals with their kids and I don’t my son wants specific things sometimes and I don’t make it I make what’s quick and he can either choose to eat or not if he chooses not to he will get a drink and fruit it’s not about always giving them

What they want because they are going always think they can have what they want when in all reality they can’t

Yeah. It's a cultural thing too. I don't call her that to her face. And even if I did.. She's not a punk. She'd just go at it 😂.

No. I don't just give her what she wants!! She's VERY spoiled. A lot of times I do give her what she wants. But at the same when I say no, that's it. No attitude. No crying.

@jahniesha, man! The privilege smh. I tell my daughter all the time.. That's not how I'm raising you. I'm raising you to be a young lady. With morals, values and respect. And same for my son! He will be a gentleman

I understand both sides at the end of the day it’s depends on your child I grew making my Own stuff around 5-6 whereas I had family who didn’t and to this day they still can’t cook and don’t know how to raise a family where I’ve Been married and on my own place and car since 20 and I’ve held down a job since 14 I’m grateful I was taught my independence at such a young age and I plan instilling it into my boys as well my son was potty trained before two drinks out of regular cups there’s something things that he does that kids his age doesn’t and there is nothing wrong with that

Yes, exactly. I grew up the same way. By 12 I was cooking, cleaning, doing laundry and able to stay home alone (I was never left alone but I had the ability). While my nieces and nephews are like you said.. Very much dependant and can't fully take care of themselves as an adult. I too can hold a house. It's all in how you're raised. Kids now-a-days aren't as mature because people have become so scared of things going wrong vs going right

@rese, exactly many people wants to be friends to their children instead of being real parents so they shelter them from things it’s okay for them to fall or hurt it’s going to happen rather we shelter them from it or not that’s just my opinion though

@jahniesha, right! Like my daughter will literally try and climb up on stuff or do cartwheels in the house and could break her bones. Just trying to play. But I'm going to be like "oh no.. She could burn herself." Or whatever it is.. Kids are going to get hurt. You can't put them in a bubble 😂 I bet you one thing.. They hurt themselves once it won't happen again lmao

No. She didn't just want breakfast.. She wanted something specific. My colloquialism and relationship with my daughter is on another level.

I could have just made her what I wanted her to have and told her to eat it.. That would have been awful.

@rese, I’m glad your child is so advanced. However calling your child a brat for wanting food is sad. I understand she wanted a big breakfast instead of cereal but to react the way you did wasn’t cool. You could’ve said why don’t you eat something small now and then when everyone’s up I’ll make a big breakfast. Deal? I always make deals with my littles. Lol.

@feeneythepotstirrer, lol oh. Do you think I called her a brat to her face? Oh no no no 😂. I don't say things like that to my daughter. She knows when she is being a brat. And yes we had that agreement. I didn't put our whole conversation on here. When I said "figure it out" I was talking about how she "only wanted plain forested flakes or cinnamon toast crunch, or the regular fruit loops" today instead of the Apple Jack's, or lucky charms, etc that is in the house. My daughter eats two breakfasts. A light one when she wakes up and then eggs and bacon and all when everyone is up. But this morning she just wanted the big spread super early (no one in the house was awake and up/showered) OR her specific cereals that she was "in the mood for" 🙄😂

Are you serious? Totally not judging but I could never ever do that to my 5 year old she wakes up bugging for breakfast the second her eyes open 😩. I’d leave my 12 year old to figure it out tho. No way in hell my 5 year old could make an eggo lol, I don’t let them use the toaster or microwave when my son was little a boy his age who lived not far set the house on fire with a toaster while his mom and her friend were sleep they died 😩😩 maybe I’m just paranoid.

@rese, don’t get me wrong she’s advanced and can do quite a bit, but I don’t let them do anything that could possibly cause them to burn themselves or something else. My 12 year old & 5 year old also have adhd so it makes me even more paranoid, I’m sure she could do it I would just never make her. My 12 year old has burnt himself on the toaster before after all they are kids.

@mimixtmn, yeah I can understand your paranoia. I've talked with so many people on this subject. A lot of people are so cautious of things. And I understand that. I am as well... I don't allow her to do things by herself always. Just sometimes. Mix it up... So that she can grow and learn. Yeah things will happen, they are kids. There's no law or book or anything to say "this age is appropriate for kids to start.. Xyz" because there isn't a set age. It really depends on the child and situation.
