Not taking my kids trick or treating this year it’s gonna be raining and cold and I refuse to take my kids out to get sick all for some damn candy 🙄no I think not I’ll go buy some candy and maybe some face paint and that’ll be that 👌🏼
@inkedsouthernbelle, they’re small only two and 9 months they aren’t even really big enough to understand yet
Go to an indoor carnival or the mall. It’s not just about the candy but the experience and I’m sure, depending on their age, they won’t care if it’s cold or not
@alicianoelle, We live in Canada and its very cold for the little kids this time of year. It’s a good option many malls do it here between 5 and 7 pm the stores close but hand out candies and often coupons to parents lol
Our kids often get more candies then those who go to one neighbourhood. It’s great we enjoy it. Often after we will then let our oldest two go to a couple houses on grandma and grandpas street for fun:
@beakymcspence I wonder if we have anything like that out here in California. That sounds so much easier especially since all the kids are usually running across the streets and so many cars it's so dangerous.
@alicianoelle, We go indoor trick or treating at the mall. It’s fun for them and warm lol
My oldest is already sick so I'm not even sure if were going. I might take them a few blocks but that's it
Generally changes in temperatures are correlated with cold and flu seasons. Temperatures don’t cause one to get sick unless it’s hypothermia related.
That being said there have been studies that say people who are frequently exposed to cold temperatures have a higher likelihood of a suppressed immune system.
It would not mean being out in the cold for an evening out, but more prolonged exposures. It would have to be quite extreme temperatures also like our winters of -18 to -45. Very common in arctic communities.
For example:
Men here in Alberta that work outdoors in the oilfield for shifts at a time in sub zero temperatures would be considered more at risk for this suppression. Someone like my husband for example would be considered more at risk for temperature related suppression.
Not all studies are from “Google”, yes @kellynicole the doctor your employed by has a point but it’s not to be taken as literally as an outing on a cold or wet evening. It’s long term exposure that can suppress ones immune system and therefor make it more difficult for your body to fight off a common virus.
@spookylyn
Directly from Harvard Health not google. It’s also part of our training when you take your bachelors as well.
Exposure to cold weather can also boost your metabolism, which is actually sought as a form of weight loss in Russia.
Cold weather is more likely to increase your blood pressure then suppress the immune system, and the exposure would have to be consistent and quite extreme.
@spookylyn, alright lol well I’m just going based off what the doctor i work for told me
@spookylyn, sudden change in temp does alter the body’s ability to fight cold and virus
@evelynandirismomma, yess see I’ll do something like that
It’ll be raining and cold here too. My daughter has a costume but we didn’t plan on actually trick or treating because she’s too young for a bunch of candy. We will be stopping by a couple family members house so she can show off her costume though. 😊
@spookylyn, I just prefer to not have me and kids out freezing and wet for some candy that I can go buy
I hate when people can’t control their kids. Went to the dentist the kids just climbing all over stuff, bothering people and messing with this women’s hair. Raising my son to be respectful and not be a pest to people because it takes the right person to say something to the kid and here the parents go getting mad.
Transgender children
So I just learned that in my kids school district (my kids aren't in school yet my oldest will be starting kindergarten next September) there are twin boys who identify as girls. They are 5 years old. What's your opinions on this matter given they are 5!!! I don't believe that at that age they really understand the whole thing. So the entire school had to take a course on how to handle transgender children. For example they can't say girls go this or boys do that. What are...
