Okay so my son had his circumcision today (((plastibell circumcision))) and the doctor said tummy time and sleeping on his tummy won’t hurt him butttttt... Idk I still feel like it would be painful for him😬🤔 what y’all think?!?!?
@alishap1212, my son was choking on spit up laying on his back , he didn’t turn his head, cough it up or swallow it. That reflex didn’t kick in for about a month and a half.
He started rolling over at 2 months. He rolls from stomach to back and from back to stomach. I don’t owe an explanation for why he sleeps on his back. Don’t let my age fool you, I know what I’m doing.
@alexisastitt, what concerns are there for babies sleeping on there back ? I disagree babies shldnt be sleeping on their stomach till they can roll over
@mommytok, Exactly... I give up trying to tell people I’m listening to his doctor about the aftercare over and over and over again, just for them to try and tell/convince me otherwise.
@alishap1212, I been knew the “abc” of sleeping...no one told me that. Funny thing is when I got home and he was sleeping on his back I was constantly woken up by him choking on spit up. I always kept him up for an hour or 2 before he went to sleep to let his milk digest but he still threw up. He’s been sleeping on his stomach for 2 months. He sleeps better, he doesn’t throw up and we have NEVER had any problems at all. I don’t care what anyone says about the “ABCs” of sleeping... babies have been sleeping on their stomachs since forever. There are concerns or “dangers” about babies sleeping on their back just the same as babies sleeping on their stomachs.
I had a girl so no circumcision advice, but as a nurse I can 100% tell you alcohol on an open wound will sting so I would definitely stick to what you said your doctor advised! Good luck!
Well I have no idea bc i have a girl but I do know the abc of sleeping alone , back , crib , so who ever told u it’s safe for him to sleep on his stomach I wouldn’t listen to that
@alexisastitt, My son wasn’t fussy either but it really helped it heal faster, and helped that plastic piece fall off faster, and I was so happy I could give him a real bath after that but it’s just a suggestion you don’t have you use it if you don’t want to. I’m not trying to tell you what to do or anything I was just trying to give you a helpful tip.
@amberjacq, I get where you’re coming from. I try new things when it come to “care tips” and I don’t want to “try new things” with this if he’s not fussy about it now. Why would I? He’s fine, not fussy or anything. Why would I not listen to a doctor that has done numerous circumcisions?? I’m open to suggestions and tips but that doesn’t mean I have to do or use them.
@alexisastitt, Every child is different that is true but it doesn’t hurt to try new things when it comes to care tips especially if it would help with the discomfort. Tummy will be okay but if he shows any discomfort I probably wouldn’t do it for a long period of time my son loved tummy time as a newborn even with the plastic piece on his boy area, it didn’t hurt him or bother him at all.
@amberjacq, everyone’s child is different, I just wanted to see how other moms dealt with Timmy time after.
@amberjacq, I’m open minded with certain things but not with the “care” of his circumcision.
Definitely follow your doctor’s directions about the Vaseline and alcohol! I agree with that it’ll be very padded & protected in his diaper and he will let you know if he’s uncomfortable.
@alexisastitt, I’ve been through this before, my son was 100% fine when I used alcohol wipes and Vaseline on his and he had the same exact thing done as a newborn. Try to be open minded and at least try it, it won’t hurt to put Vaseline on it.
@amberjacq, the doctor told me to only clean it with unscented soap and warm water. She said no Vaseline until after the ring falls off and not to use wipes on it because the sting from alcohol will make him fussy🙄 she said to go around it.
My son had the same thing done, a plastibell circumcision, he is fine to do tummy time, just keep it clean with alcohol wipes and Vaseline every time you change his diapers it could heal/make the plastic piece fall off quickly if you keep applying Vaseline to it with very diaper change.
@alexisastitt not sure on healing with that. One thing I do know... Boys are so sensitive down there that if you do try it and it hurts him at all he is going to let you know lol! Totally get why you are hesitant though
@mct, He had a plastibell circumcision. He just has a diaper on and I can’t put vaseline on it until the ring falls off. He likes tummy time A LOT and I don’t mind it but I’m not 100% sure if it will be comfortable for him
I dunno I feel like a tiny weeny inside a puffy diaper would be pretty protected
@sweetiedarling90, his ring fell off already but he was fine it didn’t bother him at all when he was laying on it
