I just had my anatomy scan, they suspect that the baby has "cleft lip, unilateral". I have to go to a specialist next…

@l.yesi, I know, I’m still trying to adjust to the news and I still have moments where I feel like my world is coming crashing down. I just never thought I would be dealing with this. I’ve been doing lots of reading on it. It helped getting as educated as I can on this. Our journey will definitely be more difficult than planned. We just have to try to stay strong. @jillian.g, all I do is cry since yesterday but I will be strong and tackle the bull by the horns and do everything and anything for my princess. I'm not saying I'm ready but I know we will be troopers for our little ones...

I just got this news too a couple weeks ago. It was a huge shock and I felt devastated. I understand how you feel. I’ve been trying to stay positive as possible but that was hard at first. Luckily, it’s fixable and our babies will still be beautiful ❤️

@l.yesi, I don’t think that could be the reason it could jus have happened :/ but pray it was a false positive. Either way she will be ok my lil cousin who’s 13 has cleft lip and you couldn’t even tell. She will have to have surgery when she’s born to correct it and as she grows the scar will fade.

@l.yesi, do you have diabetes or are u on any meds? Start taking folic acid.

@l.yesi, yes mama because it’s a birth defect but it’s fixable thank God! Is she positive because there’s a lot of false positives on cleft lip on ultrasound.

@l.yesi, I get those shots when I’m pregnant because I lost twins at five months and I know side effect is cleft lip. When do you go back

@preciouslove, no I have not. The only thing the doctor told me ( she isn't my regular GYN,I had to see her since the anatomy scan has to be done before a certain time and my GYN was off) was that according to the scan the baby have cleft lip, & that I need another scan for confirmation. & that I'm consider a high risk pregnancy.

Don’t worry heart broken momma, there are many doctors out there able to fix cleft lips, and don’t you dare think you did anything wrong, it’s almost as common as getting wisdom teeth taken out. You’re baby will be just fine, adorable and even more loved. So many babies don’t survive past birth from so many other worse problems involving their hearts alone.
