Hi Jen, I was really scared of the Ivf but the more I ask the less scary it is. Knowing that it has highest success rates makes me think this will be over sooner than with a million iui which are super stressful. What a blessing that your first Iui worked! My 2nd got me bfp but didn't work out.,, we did two more and no luck :( I also just switched doctors for Ivf ... and lab! Been doing tons of research on it. Check out your area to see if you can find an Ivf lab that has this system ... supposedly it increases rates for Ivf. http://lifeaire.com/ivf
I work in biotech so I'm always looking for the scientific aspect of all these treatments which drives the doctors and especially nurses crazy... but it's my body so I will ask a million questions before I agree to anything ... end of rant! Wishing you the best
I found one in my area so I will be switching to that lab /doctor
Hi :) I'm in the same position, 4 failed iuis and not sure what to do next. Have to make follow up appointment to see what our doc recommends. Our son was conceived through iui - first try!!! (After trying on our own and with clomid for over 2 years). No such luck this time though and I don't know why ? I hope it all works out for you. Know that there's others who understand what you're going through x
Hi kmicha
I wish you the best for your Ivf journey.... Ivf has highest success rate. Find the best doctor around and go for it. After a few days of thinking, I decided I am going to go for it too. I have a follow up with my doctor to talk about the plan next week. Hopefully we can start next month so It gives me a bit of more time to loose all my depression weight ... and maybe some more! Looks like IVF has highest chances of success also . We also have unexplained .... sometimes I think if there was a reason it would be easier to fix .... anyways . Sending you baby blessings and don't give up . Sometimes when I feel really down about this, I go on this app and look at all the success stories and realize all we need is lots of strength to make it happen. What changed my mind on this was a story I read yesterday of a woman who went through 6 IVF before conceiving . That's is mega strength!!!
I wish you all baby dust girls. Sometimes life gets so difficult.
I'm ttc#1 since summer 2009 so it's 7 yrs. I had 4 IUIs done before my IVF back on 2014 + one more IUI on 2015 all of them failed.
We have unexplained infertility. The Dr. Suggest an other IVF and do a day 5 transfer instead a day 3. Also, the medication will be increased to get more eggs.
Loosing weight definitely helps! After my miscarriage I gained like 10lbs! I'm trying to loose them and it's so hard... I've only lost 5 so far .... so difficult! 14 is a huge deal! You should be very proud of yourself! I wish I could go on metformin or something else to help besides exercise and diet but I'm stuck with that for now.... the more I think about it, the more I'm inclined to just go for the IVF. I finally have insurance that will actually help pay for a portion of it and I will probably take out a loan for the rest :/ it's terrible that we don't get covered in the uSa. Was ur first naturally conceived??
Oh, friend. I'm so sorry. I know that heartbreak. Go for the IVF! If we could do that, we so would. We were on track to do it last March. We found out insurance covered the procedure, just not the medication. We couldn't spend $6K for meds, so we stopped trying.
I'm insulin resistant, so I don't ovulate healthy follicles. I also have low progesterone. My first RE gave me 50mg Clomid and we did timed intercourse, but I didnt ovulate and I obviously didn't get pregnant. The next month, I did another 50mg of Clomid. This doc wasn't tracking me at all, so I went to another doctor during that cycle. He did ultrasounds and prescribed the trigger and Metformin with timed intercourse. I ovulated, but didn't conceive. I wanted to give my body a break, so we took some time off from meds.
Last January, I went back to my proactive RE and he recommended IVF, because my insurance would pay for it. That didnt work out and I was CRUSHED. I decided I needed a break emotionally, so we waited and I focused on my son. He's special needs and is four, but functions like a nine month old. He's finally in a good spot, we bought a new house, my husbands job is going well, so we are trying again.
This January, I started a low carb/high fat diet to try to treat my insulin resistance. I've lost 14 pounds and I feel like I'm seeing signs that my body is trying to ovulate on it's own. I started back on my Metformin, along with Ubiquinol, Vitamin D, DHA, FertilAid, and I'll also be using OPKs with progesterone cream after ovulation. I see my RE Monday and he will make recommendations for next cycle. It will probably be Letrozole with the trigger. Our insurance doesn't cover any artificial insemination, ovulation induction or IVF. We have a little money set aside, so we will try as much as we can afford.
Sorry for the novel. I would love to follow along with your journey and pray for you.
Hi mrs nicoles. Thanks for your reply. We tried two rounds of clomid +Ovidrel trigger and got a BFP, unfortunately it was a blighted ovum so I had to have medical abortion :(
We then tried one more round of the same , BFN, and right before holidays one round with clomid, 1 shot of gonal, and ovidrel and still BFN. We are going on 4 years ttc #1 . It's so strange but seems the men have the most difficulty dealing with all this emotionally .... at least in my case. I thankfully got a new job that covers a very small part of this just last month, so before it was a bit out of the question to try mini stim or Ivf bc of cost. My husband is very much wanting to just get it over with and me too....i have a follow up next week.... I'm thinking to go straight to IVF bc I can't handle any more BFN . It really messes with your head . what meds are you on?
Our decision was made for us by the fact insurance would not cover certain things. Maybe try one mini stim and move onto IVF, if you're able to. It would be easier on your body.
On the other hand, I say jump straight to what will give you the best chance at conceiving. Trust your gut. Infertility is so hard and I'm so sorry this is happening.
What meds have you tried, so far? We are ttc baby number two and have been on and off for four years. God bless and best wishes.

Hi Soliel, wow it sounds like you have done lots of research! Unfortunately there is only 2 labs where I live and we are with the best (in my opinion lol) I haven't heard of lifeaire being an option.
I agree that going straight to ivf will increase chances dramatically and avoid too many negative results hopefully! I think that will be where we are headed too. So frustrating though, knowing that it CAN work for us but isn't!
I'm also scared of the ivf process - needles, and egg retrieval in particular, as I don't cope well with pain!! But at this stage I'll do what it takes to have another baby!!
Wishing you all the best and maybe we'll both have our bfps soon!
