Yesterday my midwife said that by the end of my pregnancy I need to be walking at least 4 miles a day 3-4 times a week. 😳
It seems like so much but I’m going to try to make that happen. Along with eating more protein. (Any ideas on that? Meat tastes raw to me so I won’t eat it anymore) and making some better life choices regarding food.

Why walking 4 miles a day?

@kaym, she said that it keeps you healthy and can help aid you in delivery. She said because towards the end it can cause contractions I guess it helps your body get ready. It seems excessive though right?

Or maybe she said that because I’m slightly overweight. I’ve never heard of that before but this is my first time with a midwife

My ass was NOT about to walk that much during my pregnancy considering I was already working 8 hours a damn day 😂

@thatbeachyblonde, I mean I don’t do much other than house work 😂
But still that’s a lot! I hit 2mi a day maybe 1-3 times a week.
If I get as big as I did with caleigha I don’t think I’ll be able to do that. I was huge with her! And I had the worst pain at the bottom of my belly too.

That’s a lot of walking while you are big ol pregnant and uncomfortable! Geez
Shawna Santistevan·
@kaym, I’m just going to set myself a goal of walking every day. No matter the distance. I don’t think I’ll hit 4mi but still walking every day should be just as good
Shawna Santistevan·
@babymamaof4, right!? There’s no way I’ll be able to hit that when I’m 30+ weeks! I was huge with my daughter so if this little one follows suit I’ll be miserable at the end. But I’m definitely going to add more walking every day

@santistevanmommie, I agree walking is good but that’s a whole lot for a very pregnant woman

I got a treadmill and am already walking a mile a day each morning (I'm not preg though)

@santistevanmommie, Ever think of getting a belly band for this pregnancy??
Shawna Santistevan·
@thatbeachyblonde, yes! I think it’ll be necessary.
Shawna Santistevan·
@hazelnautumnsmomma, I can walk probably a mile no problem. But 4 a day is a lot. I’ve never really been into working out and it’s always been hard for me to stick with it. After this baby I have to become really determined and really stick to it.

@santistevanmommie ya that's a lot. I'm not preg and I sweat a lot while walking

There is more protein in a cup of spinach or black beans than 5oz of cow or pig. If you search Pinterest for vegetarian protein packed meals, you’ll be set! 🙌🏼🌱

Also, I recommend getting a step tracker. I got a basic $20.00 off amazon and it does the trick. They recommend the average person walk 10,000 steps a day. 10,000 steps would be almost 5 miles. I’m a server and in one average shift, I hit 10,000 steps. (Not including the steps I take for the rest of the day or before I go to work.) It takes a bit over 2,000 steps to walk one mile. So, I’d just wear a band, and make sure I was getting 8,000 steps a day. That should be just fine.(:

@jennatess, I have a fitbit! Currently have my step goal at 5,000 but my miles goal set to 3mi.
