I never even heard of this issue until I met my husbands family. They all took their shoes off at the door and I'm sitting there in my shoes like why is everyone looking at me? Lol. And I can see it both ways....call me crazy but I've seen some funky ass buzzard feet on some folks and I don't want that funk on my floors. Barefoot or socks. Don't be putting that athletes foot on my floor. I'll take dirty shoes over some stanking foot sweat on my floors.

We don't allow shoes on in the house either😶😶... Years ago we had a problem with my parents coming over and NOT wanting to take their shoes off.... Sooo, we said if you don't want to, don't come in😬

I still to this day take my shoes off when I go to their house.. even though they walk around with theirs on. It just doesn't feel right..

When I had carpet shoes off. But with hardwood floors I can't. It just feels weird on my feet.

Yeah I don’t do shoes in my house. There’s a mat right inside of the front door for folks to leave their shoes on and I make people well aware before they come to my home that it is shoe free! I take my shoes off at friends houses too even if they don’t have that rule.

When I go to someone’s house for the first time I ALWAYS take my shoes off, id rather have them tell me to put them back on then make them feel uncomfortable for having to ask me to take them off.

I don’t have that rule at my house though

@proudmommyoftwo_ yeah it definitely is. Even if you don't know if those people require you take off your shoes you should just do it anyway. I mean my goodness throughout the day we walk through dogshit, sometimes human urine, vomit, mud, pollen, who knows of someone just cut the grass and it's a little wet outside then track that under your shoes. 😷 I'm so glad we have a mud room!!!

We don't wear shoes in our house. When we get home we take them off in the mud room. Most people take their shoes off when they come over, some don't. I take my shoes off in everybody's house.

me either , just like to keep cArpet as clean as possible. Most people don't mind, it is what it is.
