Hey ladies I am new on here, I was wondering from all the Oklahoma mom's what are the pros and cons of living in Oklahoma (Amber, Oklahoma)

I live not far from Amber, Oklahoma. Are you moving there?
From what I know it's a tight knit small town, good community and best school system in the area.

I moved from Oklahoma to Colorado. Honestly, there are more cons than pros about that state. (I grew up there.) The school system is the worst. They are ranked #42. They just had a teacher walkout to try and increase wages for teachers and get more funding, which was slightly successful. But still not enough to be competitive to other states. The scenery in Oklahoma is flat, boring and ugly. There are a few nice places to visit, but overall, Oklahoma just is not pretty. Weather wise, it is incredibly humid and there are several months of tornadoes. Unless you enjoy casinos or drinking, there isn't much to do. Now that we have some of the cons out of the way... Pros. It's cheap to live there. Cost of living is very low, compared to other states. You can easily find apartments under 1K/month, utilities aren't expensive. I owned an older 3 bedroom house on a double corner lot in a decent neighborhood and was paying $468/month (Shawnee area).
That being said... We're moving back in a year. 😪 I don't want to, and it certainly won't be a permanent thing, but my entire family lives there, and my parents are aging. I want to be closer for them. They will not ever leave Oklahoma, so we're going to them. But eventually, we will move back to Colorado or somewhere else.

I’ve lived in Oklahoma all of my life and never heard of amber Oklahoma lol. But I just recently opened a daycare center in cleveland Oklahoma and I love the small town vibe there!

@rikki. I'm not sure the person who we know that lives in Amber really wants us to move there but I'm nervous because we would be starting over and we also wouldn't know anyone
Hannah Hoddy·
@techie_grrl I'd be coming from Kansas so I'm sure if would be better than here lol
Hannah Hoddy·
@techie_grrl my top place.to move.tp.would be Colorado tho!!

There is a girl on here that lives in Amber Oklahoma.
I do agree with some things stated above. Oklahoma is pretty boring but I've lived here my whole life so I just expect that anywhere you've lived you entire life gets boring.
And yes the school systems here are shit but like I said I think (last I c checked anyway) Amber is ranked like a B+ or an A- and that is much better than the schools in the surrounding area.

@h.hoddy.16.18, it’s a small town , there is a gas station, a couple churches but that’s it . Everyone is super nice and helpful though

Yeah it wasn't very big I noticed. I was there in March to visit a family friend who lives in Amber

I’m northwestern Oklahoma and have lived several places. I don’t know really what to say about Oklahoma other than the cost of living is low but so are wages.
Hannah Hoddy·
@busymomof6 min wage here in Kansas is the same but it seems like cost of living is a bit higher here and the crime rate and people killing children in my town is just getting crazy
