Where are the mamas that went threw labor without an epidural? I’m really leaning towards having my last baby without one. How was your experience?

I’d say if your first experiences went well then give it a try! I made it through the first several hours without the epidural but then I was projectile vomiting and I couldn’t take it all at once so got the epidural before the final stretch!

I honestly didn’t find it that bad 🙈 The contractions hurt, the pushing was a relief. I’d do it again. I think the biggest thing is staying focussed. When I started to lose it the pain seemed worse.

@kitkatcreek, my first two I had a epidural and only felt about a hour of contractions

@mariapb, okay. I’ve never done it before and I really want to experience it.

Great experiences, worst pain of my life but chose to do it twice. Once that babies out the pain is immediately gone. I would do it again but I’m don’t having babies now 🤷🏼♀️❤️

My experience was hell but that’s also cause I was induced and didn’t progress fast enough and had to push at 8cm. But I’ve heard that without pitocin, it’s not that bad

@boymom_, what made it a great experience?

@amberspringer, I’ve had to be induced with both of my previous but my labors were pretty fast. They both were less than 15 hours

Honestly, it was painful but so worth it. Like everyone has already said, the contractions obviously hurt. But pushing in that moment feels soooooo good. I can’t explain how euphoric it felt. And after she finally came out and was in my arms, I felt no more pain. Definitely going to go natural again if I ever have more. I loved the experience!

@amomandherbug, this makes me feel good about it. I know it will hurt but I want to feel the labor and knowing that I did it.
Maria·
@mommy_of_02, the feeling afterwards is amazing! Nothing will ever beat it for me. I was up and moving straight away, there’s no hangover from the pain relief. You can do it, look up hypno birthing and read up on it. I’ll be honest in the worst contractions I didn’t focus as much as I probably should have but looking back now it was an amazing time.
Amber·
@mommy_of_02, mine were 6hrs and 7 but I didn’t dilate fast with my youngest

@mommy_of_02, It truly made me feel incredibly confident in myself. There were moments when I started thinking I couldn’t do this but then somehow I pushed through. And I did do it! If you decide to go drug-free, I strongly recommend making 100% sure that you WANT that. Tell yourself you have absolutely no other options. If you go into it thinking “well, if it gets too hard, I can always back out and get the epidural last minute” then chances are, that is exactly what you will do. Don’t let yourself talk your own self out of it!! 👏🏼☺️

@mariapb, you were able to move as much as you wanted right? Or did they give you a catheter

@amomandherbug, thank you so much. Omg I’m so excited about it.
Maria·
@mommy_of_02, no no catheter. I was up and moving as soon as I was cleaned up. In the shower within an hour. I only had 2 internal stitches though so that might be why.

I went most of my labor with my twins without one but once I hit 7 cm I had to get it to get some rest I had been up laboring for almost 24 hours. I ended up having an emergency c-section because one got stuck and the other was breech, if my body could push a baby out I would definitely opt for a natural Non medicated birth.

@mommy_of_02, not being numb from feeling everything you go through to have your baby

@amberspringer you're right.. it's not that bad without pitocin. I've experienced both.

My 3rd was without any meds. It’s very painful but most likely will be faster. Assuming there are no other complications. The epidural helps amazingly with the pain if given early enough. In some smaller hospitals that early part may now be an option. With my 2nd I got the Epi at 8 cm so I felt a lot of the pain there.

I went without an epidural, but not by choice! I went in intending to get one but was already 9cm with contractions within minutes of each other. The nurse said there’s no way I’d be able to be still long enough to get one with contractions so close together. I have a low pain tolerance but was able to handle it since my labor was so quick. My lo was born about an hour after we were admitted into labor & delivery.

It was extremely tough and intense. But I plan on not getting one for the my next labor. It was an amazing thing. And as soon as you have your baby you feel no more pain 👌🏼
