No cable? I'm thinking about dropping cable but there are a few shows I just love and will be so sad to miss.

I also have a roku box in my bedroom! I actually forgot about it!! It's pretty cool, you can watch Netflix or Hulu on it or even buy regular channels on it!

We have an xbmc box. It streams any movie/channel/show you can think of through the Internet. We paid 90$ for it but we'll never have to pay for cable again. I can't really explain it in detail (that's my SOs department) but it's really cool - it pretty much makes our TV into an android. All we pay is 25 bucks a month for Internet.

No you wouldn't need the ruku box

Hulu normally keeps up with all the most popular tv shows. They normally post them the day after airing. We have both Netflix and Hulu. For both it's less than 20 a month. We dropped satellite in February best idea ever.

My main reason is the crap my DS watches on TV. He's 8 so we obviously regulate what and how much he watches, but the shows are just so stupid now. They aren't like what we had growing up. No TGIF, no Full House, no Boy Meets World. Just stupidity wrapped into 30 minutes of nonsense.

We don't have cable. We haven't had it in years. I never watched a lot of tv so it was never a big deal. We do have Netflix and there are a lot of good kid shows!

You don't need a roku if you have any type of gaming system that connects to the internet. We use our ps4 to stream movies and shows

I haven't had cable in years. We have Hulu and Netflix, and all the shows I watch are on there. We don't watch a lot of tv anyway though.

We haven't had cable since Saturday and my SO sold his PlayStation for so hulu plus is not an option anymore so I just look up shows on youtube but it's pretty boring but on Thursday they should be coming to put a new system on. I don't think I can go years without cable

Thanks ladies! I need to lower our Netflix plan. We pay $20 per month but never ever ever get DVD's in the mail because I never remember to update our queue. When I want them, I just go to Red Box.

I have a smart TV and smart Blu Ray player that we have the Netflix app on. We could also download the Hulu app if we had the service. We also have a Wii U and have the Netflix app on that as well. Would I still need the Roku box then?

We cut of four cable too after getting the Roku . We have Netflix , Hulu , and downloaded the history channel , lifetime . A&E , fox , disney , disney jr and all the ESPNS and just used my sister's dish info to unlock those apps to watch new shows on those channels . Plus there's tons of more free movie /tv show apps . I haven't felt like I was missing out yet after 5 months of no cable and we save $200 a month .

We don't have cable either. We use Netflix for the majority of our screen time. I will sometimes go onto a channel's website the next day if I really want to stay caught up with a series. My husband also somehow downloads seasons of shows to watch.

We love our roku. We pay $7.99 a mon for Netflix. My kids watch wayyyyy less tv since it's not always "on" and you have to think about what you want to watch.

Get a roku box!! It's amazing. I have one as well as cable but my parents have only the roku. You plug it into your tv and then you can stream shows from netflix, hulu, crackle, blockbuster, and tons of other streaming sites. The box itself costs about $50. And no monthly fee. But you do still need internet

I don't have cable. We have a digital antenna so we can get local channels and we have Netflix. Been like this for a couple years, just don't feel the need to have a cable bill. Our internet bill is already crazy! It works for us!

Maybe call the cable company and tell them your wanting to shut it off because its too expensive. A lot of the time they'll give you a really good deal. My bill went from $120 to $70 doing that.

We dropped cable a while ago, we just use netflix, hulu plus, and we download the shows that aren't available on either of those via torrents. (Game of thrones, new walking dead, real housewives, etc)

We don't have cable or satellite. We have a large antenna that picks up all the local networks CBS ABC NBC FOX and PBS. We also have Hulu and Netflix which is where we watch most shows. Hulu is next day air for most shows (but doesn't carry cbs so be aware of that). The only thing we have to pay extra for is The Walking Dead and we use Vudu or the Playstation Network for that at $1.99 an episode and it airs next day. So our bill is around $20/mo for all our tv.

Hulu plus has some, but not all. You can also buy most episodes for $1-3 a day or so after they come out.

Honestly, waiting a year to get the season isn't that hard. You don't get to watch it when it first comes out, but you do have the option of binge watching the season all at once.

I haven't had cable for the last two years. We don't watch much TV though. We have Netflix, and I go to my parents house to watch walking dead on Sunday nights.

Hulu keeps most of the current shows. Just have to watch then the next day.

Well right now I work full time but we are wanting to move so I can be a SAHM. We will be cutting back our expenses for a while until we can budget appropriately so cable seems like the first thing to go.

I didn't have cable for two years. We just watched DVDs. I thought I was going to lose my mind! We had over 100 movies but still watched all of them at least 5 times.

Are you home a lot? If you so, I wouldn't do it!
