No cable?
I'm thinking about dropping cable but there are a few shows I just love and will be so sad to miss.
We have an xbmc box. It streams any movie/channel/show you can think of through the Internet. We paid 90$ for it but we'll never have to pay for cable again. I can't really explain it in detail (that's my SOs department) but it's really cool - it pretty much makes our TV into an android. All we pay is 25 bucks a month for Internet.
My main reason is the crap my DS watches on TV. He's 8 so we obviously regulate what and how much he watches, but the shows are just so stupid now. They aren't like what we had growing up. No TGIF, no Full House, no Boy Meets World. Just stupidity wrapped into 30 minutes of nonsense.
We don't have cable, just netdlix, hulu,amazon Prime & a hd box (I think.that's what it's called).but it was.$20.& it.gets local channels so.we can see football.
Hulu plays allot if current.does the day after they air. I watch teenmom on mtv it's just I've if those train wrecks I have to watch. I see every show I care about without cable
Thanks ladies! I need to lower our Netflix plan. We pay $20 per month but never ever ever get DVD's in the mail because I never remember to update our queue. When I want them, I just go to Red Box.
I have a smart TV and smart Blu Ray player that we have the Netflix app on. We could also download the Hulu app if we had the service. We also have a Wii U and have the Netflix app on that as well. Would I still need the Roku box then?
We cut of four cable too after getting the Roku . We have Netflix , Hulu , and downloaded the history channel , lifetime . A&E , fox , disney , disney jr and all the ESPNS and just used my sister's dish info to unlock those apps to watch new shows on those channels . Plus there's tons of more free movie /tv show apps . I haven't felt like I was missing out yet after 5 months of no cable and we save $200 a month .
Get a roku box!! It's amazing. I have one as well as cable but my parents have only the roku. You plug it into your tv and then you can stream shows from netflix, hulu, crackle, blockbuster, and tons of other streaming sites. The box itself costs about $50. And no monthly fee. But you do still need internet
We don't have cable or satellite. We have a large antenna that picks up all the local networks CBS ABC NBC FOX and PBS. We also have Hulu and Netflix which is where we watch most shows. Hulu is next day air for most shows (but doesn't carry cbs so be aware of that). The only thing we have to pay extra for is The Walking Dead and we use Vudu or the Playstation Network for that at $1.99 an episode and it airs next day. So our bill is around $20/mo for all our tv.
Hulu plus has some, but not all. You can also buy most episodes for $1-3 a day or so after they come out.
Honestly, waiting a year to get the season isn't that hard. You don't get to watch it when it first comes out, but you do have the option of binge watching the season all at once.
Well right now I work full time but we are wanting to move so I can be a SAHM. We will be cutting back our expenses for a while until we can budget appropriately so cable seems like the first thing to go.
Who doesnt watch cable t.v? 🙋
We got rid of cable
I feel like I cut off a limb ???
I need to vent for a second my husband told me he wanted me to buy all the Christmas gifts and gifts for his nieces and nephews as well so after I started shopping in October he continued to complain that I’m buying gifts and not helping with bills kind you I pay cable and phone now that I’m close to done and have spent well over 3500 bucks he decides to complain again today sometimes I hate having a greedy husband because that’s how he comes off lately 🤦🏻♀️
ladies!
I manage mine and my husband's finances. I have complete access to his bank. He works out of town and I went in to get money for our cable bill. I'm his credit card statement there's about 100 spent at a gondola. I'm not sure but does that sound fishy? He never mentioned it to me. Or asked before spending the money.
I also have a roku box in my bedroom! I actually forgot about it!! It's pretty cool, you can watch Netflix or Hulu on it or even buy regular channels on it!
