Opinions, opinions!
I need opinions ladies! I'm trying for an all-natural, unmedicated VBA2C. My husband is supportive of this decision but more in a "I don't get it but whatever you want" sort of way. I know a girl who is a doula, she has supported 15 births in 2 years and her fee is $500, but said she'd discount her fee and only charge me $350. DH does not like the idea of this because he is nervous it will be money down the drain (if I end up with a RCS). Also, he doesn't really like the girl, she's really opinionated and a little annoying in a regular setting (although I personally think she would be VERY professional and helpful in a birthing setting).

Being absolutely comfortable with your doula is important & experience isn't everything. Last thing you want is to feel like you have to fight the person that us supposed to be supporting you. If your friend feels like she could fulfill the role I think she'd be a great option!
That said, even if you did end up with a rcs, a doula would NOT be a waste! She would be there to advocate & make sure you felt heard & empowered regardless of birth outcome.

Your friend, for sure. Just having someone who understands and can advocate for you will be great.

I think anyone who you're comfortable with would be a good addition to your birth support group.
Just from my experience tho I saw a group of midwives at a birth center for both my births. This one midwife rubbed me the wrong way I just found her annoying and really hoped she wasn't on call when it was time. Sure enough she was there when I went into labor with my second son. I was completely astonished though how different she was in a birth setting. She knew what to say how to comfort me told me what sounds to make and when I was stalling she talked me into switching positions and by the next contraction I was pushing. It's definitely valuable to have someone that knows what they are doing and can get you through it. It truly can be the different between having your vbac or having another section. But whatever you choose will be right for you and I am wishing you the best possible experience!

Thank you ladies! I will talk with DH about it again and see how he feels. I ultimately want him to be comfortable as well, he's never been through a birth like this and I want to make sure we make the decision together. :-)
