Family drama!!!!! Ugh!!!!!!!!
I'm so annoyed! I am hosting easter for my family this year... It's just my immediate family (parents, brothers, spouses, kids) but it comes out to 19 people.

My mother in law ruined my relationship and family .
Family secrets What's a big family secret of yours? Or crazy story?
My baby (27) and I (21), can't wait until our family is complete (:
My cute family!
10 meals, 8 will double so this equals 18 dinners for my family!

Thank you, ladies! I don't know, the whole thing is silly. I just wanted it to be easy and fun it of course there always has to be drama. :-) we ended up working it out and we will be doing it on Saturday night, then my husband and I will be going to help my dad with the garden on Sunday.

Wow. Crazy family. You were just trying to be nice and welcoming. Your intentions were all good. I don't see how you did anything wrong.
Your mom and whoever made your brother cry should be ashamed of themselves. Totally not in the spirit of an upcoming holiday.

That's rude of them all. My family is much smaller but were having dinner Saturday night because of everyone in the family who have to get up early Monday morning for work.
It kinda ruins the point of a family dinner for them to only care about it on one day

Since my dd is with her dad every other holiday we have begun celebrating on a different day. Our primary goal is that everyone is there. My parents have even said that celebrating without dd wouldn't feel right. I honestly enjoy the holidays much more doing it this way. Before we started doing this our holidays were crazy. We often had 3 houses to stop by during the day. I didn't feel like we could sit back and enjoy being with family because we were so rushed to jump to the next place. I think your mom really needs to rethink what her priorities are. I'm surprised that she is so set on doing it a day when not everyone can be there. Is there really not another day that your dad can till the garden? I think Saturday dinner sounds fabulous and I'm sure the kids will love the Easter egg hunt.

We always do extended family Easter party on Saturday & just my little family on Sunday with no guest's. It's easier!

Aww you really are putting in so much effort, you shouldn't be dealing with this nonsense. Do what you feel is right and if others have an issue, that's all it is: their issue, they can sort themselves out and feed themselves if necessary, won't kill anyone.

Do it Sat.
tell your mom you want Sunday to just be your family. Its a month away. She can get over it. Or she can host it.
you are the host. You choose the day!

I was also going to do a glow in the dark Easter egg hunt for the older kids if we did it Saturday night. :-(

My point exactly. I'm so upset because now I feel like I have to choose my brother or my dad. I think I might just do two, one on Saturday night and one on Sunday and let people choose which one they want to come to.
Also, we normally bake a huge ham and the works but I'm tempted to order pizza for Sunday. LOL!

Definitely annoying, I don't understand why they wouldn't want everyone together and to make it easier.....it's just good sense!
I don't see why people need to make things like that such a big deal.
I'd have half a mind to just have that brother over on Saturday and cancel Sunday! You are the host and the one having to do all that work, how rude of everyone else!
Ashley Roan·
Exactly what I said. It's silly that the whole family can't be together because they can't move the tilling to the next day. I also offered to go help them, since we will also be free.

Can't he till the garden on Sunday instead? Or have a late Easter supper and till before?
Sounds like they're just on a mission to be in charge of your party.

She sent this terribly annoying text about how we all need to give him a break, he works so hard, is so old, etc.
REALLY?? All because we want to do dinner on Saturday night?
Ashley Roan·
Apparently my parents are going out of town almost everyone weekend except easter so my dad made plans to till the garden on Saturday. That's her excuse, which is dumb. I love my dad and would never feel right doing easter without him. She knows this, which is why she is using him as the "reason".

We always do Easter dinner on Saturday for the same reason. Then people can go to other family's places, church, etc...
Your party, your choice.
