These 10 meals cost me about $120. I will tell you that some of these fed my family for three nights or more. It was way more than 10 meals, turned out to be more like 20+.
Meat can stay good frozen for 1 year. Some people freeze it longer than that but I stick to one year (although meat rarely stays in my freezer that long before we eat it)!
@solmari - it just depends on the size of chicken. Usually when you buy a BIG pack of chicken, each breast can be 1-2 lbs. What I do is divide the total number of breast by the total pound. So if it there are 5 breasts and it's a 6 pound pack of chicken, each breast weighs about 1.2lbs. Unless you can see that 1 or 2 of the breasts are significantly larger.
I just eyeball it.
Yes, it's pretty easy, just takes time to prep.
First, you prepare the bags. Write the name of the meal and any other steps you need once it's time to cook (such as cooking time, anything else that needs to be added, and what you should serve over). Then prep all the food (cut up all produce, chicken, etc), put in bag and add all other ingredients (like seasonings). Store flat in freezer.
When it's time to cook, take it out of the freezer and put it in the fridge the night before to thaw. Then put in the crock pot the next morning! It doesn't need to be thawed all the way. It's super easy!
This is awesome! Good job op! I wanted to do something similar so that I wouldn't have to cook for a while after giving birth but my so wasn't too fond of the idea and he said he would cook instead. Of course he didn't come through when the time came. I definitely kicked myself, would've saved me alot of trouble.
@TC - there are plenty of others that use beef, pork, etc. I've never tried any with seafood.
