I'm newly pregnant with #3. I have a 7 year old son (who will be 8 when baby arrives) and a 2 year old daughter who will be almost three.

I'd say put the baby with dd. My brother and I are 2 yrs apart an we shared until I started school.

A friend of mine lives right up the road in a 2 bedroom house with 2 children, a boy and a girl ages 6 and 4. There was a situation where a family member of theirs was no longer able to take care of their own child. My friend offered to take the child for the family at least for a time. CPS said no way because of the bedroom arrangement. They told my friend to get her own children into separate rooms or CPS would take action. The parents gave up their bedroom. They now use the living room. One child is now in the master bedroom.

No law on the books but that doesn't mean much to CPS.

Well hopefully it's a girl and I won't have to worry about it...or perhaps I can convince DH to move! :-)

I think 7 is to young to be in a basement I would consider making a space for baby in my room

Why couldnt baby stay in your room for a year. But agreed some states say that opposites cannot share.

You could turn the basment into a neat playroom and design the bedroom how he wants it. Make it to where it was company friendly and such after you wanted baby out of yours.

I dunno im scratching at air trying to come up with ideas lol

Check your states laws. Some states have laws saying that opposite sex children can not share a room. I know that is the case in MD, I was told this by DSS!

We keep a pack n play I our master bedroom. And a dresser/changing table wedged somewhere in the house. That's our baby set up until 18-24 months.

The bedrooms aren't that big. Our master furniture wouldn't fit in the room downstairs.

New baby's in our home stay in my room until 18 months-2 years. Do that and then see how big brother feels.

Can't the kids have the upstairs rooms and you have the basement room?

I would say put the baby with your daughter if she doesn't still cry a lot. Because I've noticed when one kid cries, they all start crying. My sister is 7 years younger than me and my brother is 3 years younger than her and they shared a room til my brother was 5

I would leave your 7 year old in his own room upstairs and your 2 year and new baby together. I have 5 kids and that how I've always done it the 2 smallest share the room. You Can always add blues and other gender neutral colors to the room its practical.

Thanks ladies! He doesn't like being in the basement alone after dark. He is fine any other time of the day.

DD's bedroom is bright pink with flowers and birds all over the place! Poor baby boy if he gets stuck with her!! Haha!!

I plan on having the new baby with us for about 9 months before moving him/her into another room. DD plays before bed and naps, she also randomly wakes up for an hour or so in the middle of the night and plays. I'm worried about them sharing a room and keeping the baby up - but maybe all that will change over the next year. :-)

Baby can stay in your room for 2 years or dd room then move in with brother if it's a boy. My 4 and 12 yr olds share by choice they each have there own room but choose to sleep in one room

I shared a room with my sister and she is seven years older than me. Hell, we shared a bed lol. I don't think the age difference is too big, but it depends on your son attitude about it. If he's not open to it, it won't work very well.

8 years is a huge difference. You could probably get away with it for 2 years... But that's not fair to put a crying infant in a room with him if he's going to school. That will effect his sleep and thusly his schoolwork.

You could put the two youngest in a room together for a couple years, and then hopefully the 8 YO will want to sleep in the basement. A lot can change in 2-3 years.

Good luck.

I also have a 3 and 1 year old who will be sharing a room once new baby arrives, then depending on wether baby is a girl or boy will depend on who shares.

I'd probably keep the little ones together for a while at least, and then give him the option of sharing or being downstairs, he's old enough to reason with. Also has he told you why he doesn't want to sleep downstairs?

Maybe have them share at first. I bet he'd want the basement room after a short time.

It make the basement room REALLY cool, like put up stuff he likes on the walls and shelves for his stuff. He may want the room then?

I would probably lean toward putting the baby (regardless of gender) with dd. My brother and I are 3 years apart and shared until he was about 4 I was 7.

Maybe by the time they get to that age ds might want the basement?

Also, this would keep ds from having his sleep interrupted and being tired at school?

Otherwise I don't think the age difference matters for boys until the older one would be 10-12 yrs old.

Question: 16 year old dating an q8 year old? Thoughts??

Question: 16 year old dating an q8 year old? Thoughts?? My opinion is hell no. 16 year old is still a kid. Kids now a days want to be grown so bad and be in adult relationships and situations. I know when my daughters are 16 and they tell me they are dating an 18 year old. I will surely flip my lid.
