It definitely can be the tongue tie. You can take him to a dentist or pedi and have them fix it.

It could very well be the tongue tie. It could be keeping your LO from getting a good, deep latch.

Do you have a lactation consultant you could meet with? They can help determine whether it's a bad latch or what's going on.

I got my LO's tongue tie clipped at about 2 weeks old. Our pedi referred us to an ENT by our request (and our LC's suggestion). Clipping it made a huge difference in breastfeeding, and he cried for literally 15 seconds then ate. It was night and day.

I bf Dd2 and she has a tounge tie. It only hurt me for a few weeks then was fine after that. It was only a pinch though.

My DD had a tongue tie as well when she was born. She fed alright so the doctors and nurses told me I didn't have to clip it. After a couple months my SO and I decided to get it clipped because she was constantly falling asleep during feedings etc (we regretted not getting it done in the hospital but we were persuaded otherwise). It was quick and easy and she was fine immediately afterwards and is completely fine now. She feeds even better and doesn't get overly tired from having to compensate for the muscles she was having trouble using.

Yes it could be a tongue tie. My advice to you is to get it clipped before it's too late. My son has a tongue tie and they told us when he was born. I was scared and refused to get it fixed. At about three months I told them I want to fix it, they denied. He still struggles during bf. Now my son still uses a nipple shield at almost five months. And he's very much addicted to it. ?

Both my babies were born with tongue tie and lip tie, and it made breast feeding terrible and so so painful. My nipples were actually raw from them latching incorrectly. Both babies i got it clipped quite early on. With my first it worked wonders and we breast feed till 1o months. With my daughter she still was unable to latch so i ended up pumping exclusively.
