My sons 6 momths.. can he have egg yolks? Is it too soon. When can he try peanut butter?

Our pediatrician said 7 months for peanut butter and eggs. He said first try egg yolk for 2-3 days then try egg whites. Since the whites have the protein in it, that is the part babies are usually allergic to.

I thought honey was ok after a year. I see the doctor in a week for the 6 months shots. I'll ask him everything. But i love knowing what you guys are doing too. Makes me feel reassured. Idk its weird but it kinda feels like you all are family. We've been through this journey together. Love this group!

My doctor said the only thing to wait on is honey. Can't have honey until 2, but everything else is great. We gave B some peanut butter ice cream and he thought it was the best thing ever.

My pediatrician said the earlier the better with PB- we gave it to my son at 7 months and will give it to my daughter soon. You usually have to give it more than once to see if they will have a reaction, but if they are allergic, typically their first allergic reaction will be small... Some hives, a rash... Not closed airways or anything, so you don't have to be too scared. I think it's good to know early. My son did fine.

As for eggs, that's fine too!

My pediatrician said they can do small amounts now! It's supposed to help prevent allergies. We haven't done either yet, but we haven't done solids that long so I'm still introducing veggies

You can certainly do eggs now, if you want! It's the egg whites they usually have a problem with, so if you're nervous, just do scrambled yolks to start. My pediatrician said that most studies now show that if you offer foods that are common allergens (eggs, nut butters, dairy, strawberries) then babies acclamate to it more easily and are less likely to develop a sensitivity to it than if you were to wait until they were older to offer it.

We did peanut butter last week (my husband is a peanut butter fiend and said if she was allergic, we had to give her up for adoption because no child of his could possibly have a nut allergy ?), so I wanted to do it pretty early. I mixed a little bit into her oatmeal to start. Now I give her spoonfuls of it to feed to herself. She loves it!

If in doubt, just ask your pediatrician!
