Toddler bed
How old did you switch your child to a toddler bed and how did you go about it? My daughter is 10 months and was dangerously close to falling out of her crib so I went and bought her a toddler bed. She hasn't fallen out of it and we've been alternating between using her crib and using the toddler bed. She keeps getting out of it and falling asleep in the middle of the floor though and I'm not sure how to make this switch as easy as possible.
My daughter can climb out of pack n plays. I think she uses the netting to her advantage. She's a strong little one. Her dad's family is tearing me apart because I chose to but her a toddler bed and they told me to extend the height of her crib. I don't feel comfortable with that because it makes no sense to me Why someone would raise the height for a child to fall when they do climb out. I love having her closer to the floor it makes me feel better knowing if she falls she won't break her neck or something. Today for her nap She walked to the door and sat there crying for 5 minutes and fell asleep against the door and I couldn't get into her room. She doesn't sleep all that good in her new bed and I think a big part of it is because she's too young to understand why she has a different bed. She's really good with not falling out and knows when she wakes up she can just climb off of it but I'm at a loss at what I can do to get her to sleep better. She keeps getting out of bed to cry for me and just going to sleep on the floor.
I switched both of my girls on their 3rd birthday's. Neither of them ever tried climbing out of their cribs. I converted the crib to a toddler bed and bought new bedding so it'd be fun for them. Neither of them ever got out of their toddler beds, either. They'd call for me until I went in their rooms. Maybe it was because they were older when we made the switch (now 9 and 4), but it was an easy transition for us. Good luck!
First daughter: 15-ish months
Second daughter: probably will around the same age.
