My little one managed to successfully climb out of her cot this morning. She’s in her own room so I didn’t see her do it…

@staceyg2404 we also thought she might just play when getting up in the night but she didn't. She would rather be cuddled up in her bed with teddies. We bought a night light that gives off just enough light for her to go to the potty. We have a motorola video monitor which is a god send as u can lie in bed and watch what she is up to without interferring xx

@delhunni197jojodan, lol! She hasn’t got a tv in her room so maybe I need to think of a few ways to keep her in bed once she’s in 😂 xx

Hi hun I put my girl in a toddler bed when she was 2 years and 3 months,she was always a really good sleeper but got to a point where she was waking up 3/4 times a night,my partner said it'd coz she to crowded now in her cot I was adamant it was far too soon,anyway few more sleepless nights and thort I'd try it,best move I ever made,I thort she be up n down playing but she doesn't she just climbs in bed I put her tv on and she lays down goes straight to sleep,it is great,now what wakes her is me in a morning rushing to do the school runs lol xx

@rachaellw, yes completely agree bring safer. I have never co slept with my lg. I guess there will only be one way to figure it out and that’s by trying her in a toddler bed. Fingers crossed she gets used to it before the her baby brother comes xx

@staceyg2404, lol I’ve always had issues with bed time we currently still co sleep but when he did go in there it was safer him being able to get out a bed easier then climbing over the top x

@rachaellw, did you have issues with him staying in bed? If so, how long did it take for him to settle? x

I moved him when he started climbing out and put a bed guard up so he wouldn’t fall out x

@karla22, oh bless her using her potty by herself in the night! That is too cute. She has a baby gate on the door to her room so she couldn’t wander or go to the stairs. I’m concerned about bed time turning to play time though. Think I need to limit the toys in her room, and get safety locks for her wardrobe and draws so she doesn’t pull everything out 🙈 xx

@staceyg2404 I would start the sooner the better. Our daughter loved it in her own big girls bed. We had a baby gate on her room so she couldn't wonder lol. And she started using her potty by herself in the middle of the night around 14 months xx

My little boy was about 16 months when he went into his big boy toddler bed with a bed guard on. He took to it very easily and loved it once he had his bedguard (we use a wooden babydan one as it then looks like his old cot bars)

The main reason we did it then was I was due our second when he was 20 months and wanted to use the cot but without him associating the two and getting jealous etc. xx

Both of mine went into beds about 20months. Once they start climbing out of it was a big sign they were ready for it for me.

@staceyg2404, does she climb on the sofa and stuff? If she does I wouldn’t worry about her climbing out hun. I put Harper straight into her toddler bed she doesn’t have a guard or anything and she stays in her bed until it’s time to get up xx

@karla22, great ideas. Thank you 😊 not sure she would fully understand. Do you think it’s manageable to do it and get her settled before the new baby comes? Obviously every baby/child is different. My fella wants to prolong it but I don’t agree with him as there’s no point prolonging something that’s going to happen regardless of what we do (Transitioning) xx

@courtniek98x, I can’t take her toys from her room as my house just isn’t big enough to do that. If I was able to take her toys and books out her room, she would be in her wardrobe and her draws so feel I can’t win with that. I put my her to bed with a juice cup filled with water. It’s 9/10 times always empty in the morning. She usually sleeps 8pm till 8.30/9am. My main concern is hurting herself by climbing out xx

@staceyg2404 if she is climbing out then the safest bet is to get her in a bed. You could get her to pick out some big girl bedding, pick some teddies to have a sleepover etc. It should make the transition easier. My daughter was in our room til around 7 months and at around 12 months she was in her toddler bed in her room. Was so worried she would roll out so we put a duvet on the floor but she never did! Xx

@staceyg2404, I let Harper play before bed then take the toys away and put her a dvd on while she lays in bed with her favourite teddy and she falls asleep watching that but if it’s been a day like today she usually falls asleep on the sofa and I just carry her up. She’s been sleeping through from 8pm until 5.30 when she wants a drink then until around 8.30am xxx

@courtniek98x, I see there’s only two months difference between our girls. How has she been? I’m worried it will take some persuading for her to actually stay in bed and that she will play with her toys rather than go to sleep. I’ve got a toddler bed guard but that won’t be any drama for her to climb over xx
