How long did your baby sleep in a crib for?
Already mommy's - When did you move baby out of a crib? And did you go to a toddler bed or straight to a big bed?
1st child went to a twin bed at the age of 2. Because we had a baby. But baby slept in a pack n play in our room for about 9mths or so then he went to the crib. Now with this baby she will also sleep in a pack in play in our room for at least 6mths and by the end of the 6mths we will be transitioning our son to his big boy bed.
Our first was 2 when we converted his bed to a toddler bed and he was 3 when we converted to to a full size mattress bed. Our second never slept in her (beautiful, expensive crib) and was a co sleeper from day 1. We actually just redid her room which now includes a twin bed and a crib (kept a guest room and play room and office with the other two because it just makes the most sense) and transitioned her to the twin and she loves it. Took one night and she was sleeping well on her own in it. It has the mesh guard rails up that keep her from falling out. She will
Be 2 in October, and we transitioned her at about 21 months. Also, both of our kids are ok the bigger side (90th percentile for height and 80th for weight) so I haven't really worried about them being too small to be in a big bed. Good luck!! I'm sure it will be fine...they adapt well.
14 months lol She slept terrible in her crib, moved around too much and everytime she would hit a side, she would wake up crying. She now has a queen sized mattress on the ground and sleeps wonderfully. I ask her where her bed is every night and she happily jumps in her bed and lays down.
My first three transitioned out by 11-12 months. They went to a toddler bed. They all did great! My fourth slept in a pack n play (I got rid of the crib by then) til three because no other baby needed it and she seemed content and never cared to climb out. She went to a twin bed. Transitioned well. This last baby went straight to a floor bed and we didn't do any kind of pack n play or crib...she's the best sleeper yet. And I'll be doing the same when these babies arrive.
Just bought a second crib! Thanks for sharing all of your stories. I think I'll sleep much better knowing my daughter is in a crib rather than a toddler or twin bed. Appreciate you all for opening my eyes and helping me to see another crib was the best choice ?
My daughter is 2 and still in her crib. She's never tried to climb out so we've kept her in it. New baby will be in a bassinet in our room for awhile so I'm in no rush, but she will be getting a big girl bed in her own room before the baby comes so if she wants to start sleeping in her big girl room, she can.
We never used our crib. I just sold it because it sat unassembled for 2 years. We always have had a full size mattress on the floor of her room and baby proofed everything in there. I did have a big baby gate that went around her bed for a couple of months when she started getting into that exploration phase and not wanting to sleep in the middle of the night but that was short lived. I keep the monitor on and if she wakes up and needs me I go in her room and lay with her since her bed is so big and comfy!
We just transitioned my daughter over to her toddler bed for the mere fact that I wanted her crib in the nursery for this baby. She was 26 months. She did so good the first week until she started falling out of it and becoming scared "I don't like my big girl bed." She'd cry to me every night ?? thinking that I may have to put her back into her crib and buy little guy a new crib. Ugh!
My youngest daughter started climbing out of her crib about two weeks ago and it was pretty scary. We are giving her my oldest dd bedroom set- single bed with a rail this week. She is almost 2 yo- in mid sept. My oldest went to big girl bed at 2.5 and the transitions was rocky. She never climbed out of her crib though? so I don't think my oldest was quite ready.
My 1st 2 kids were 15 months apart & we had to get another crib.
We didn't switch our kids to a toddler bed or big kid bed until age 2.
BUT I have a friend who switched he little guy to a toddler bed when he was 18 months. He was just ready & did great!
It really just depends on the kid.
We were in a crib until 34 months. She didnt climb out and slept good. We switched her because we were going on vacation and she would be sleeping in a big girl bed. We converted the crib to the toddler bed with rail. We converted her from the toddler bed to the full size bed at 4 years and 2 months. She was just too tall for the toddler bed at that point.
My LO is 20 mths and he's still in his crib. When we stayed at my mom's a couple days she had gotten a toddler bed and he fell out of it. I even had blankets and pillows piled up next to the area that doesn't have anything and he still managed to flip onto the actual floor. I didn't transition him into a crib in his own room until he was 1yr. He slept in a bassinet then a pack-n-play in my room for that first year. I will do the same with this baby. I will transition my son into a toddler bed closer to 2.5-3yrs.

How many of you mommies co-sleep (baby in the bed) with your baby and when did you start? 😊 just wondering!
how did you guys get your babies to sleep in the crib?
My oldest vacated his own crib just after his first birthday. I had a bed set up in his room too and he would climb out of his cot and into the bed so I just went with it.
