Do pregnancy diet restrictions continue if breastfeeding?
This is probably a stupid question, but is it safe to eat things like lunch meat, sushi, and swordfish while breastfeeding? These were all things my doc told me not to eat while pregnant, and I'm seriously craving a turkey sandwich haha so I'm hoping these restrictions go away after birth - even if you're breastfeeding.

You can eat deli meat while pregnant.

I think there's some restrictions as far as sea food goes (because of the mercury) but deli meat is fine afterwards because you can't pass lysteria that way

You can eat deli meat while breastfeeding but it is recommended to not eat fish high in Mercury while breastfeeding as it can be passed to the baby. That being said, I definitely ate a few spicy tuna rolls throughout the year I breastfed my first. It's all about moderation!

IMHO, I would eat as much fish as possible simply because it is the best way to get DHA. DHA is so vital to our body and our babies. I know there's a lot of talk about Mercury but if you do some research you may be surprised at what you find. I breastfed for 30 months and only stopped when my milk dried up during my second trimester with this pregnancy. My DD has never been sick a day in her life, Praise The Lord!

Yes eat as you please BUT warning some foods may make baby gassy so you'll have to be careful about that :)
