Are you ever really ready ?!?!
Are you ever really ready ?!?!
Hey ladies, just wanted to put a question out there to everyone. Everyone tells me that you're never really "ready" for a baby, and that if you waited until the time was perfect, there would be no time left to have one. So I'm just wondering who here feels they are REALLY ready? Based on (stable job, financial independence, stable home, benefits, spouse is ready) etcetera.

All those things are stable for me, and I still get nervous.

Me too ! I keep thinking is there more that I should prepare before??

I'm beyond ready!!! I've had baby fever for years. ?

I think all those things can be aligned, but when you are a FTM - there is so much you don't know. Yes, a lot will be winged and yes there is a learning curve. But there will also be some curve balls thrown your way.

Nope, not ready!! Most people I know haven't been. My friend is pregnant, bought a house, has a good job, finished her qualification, got married, perfect really, and still she's worried about things she planned to do in house etc!! I'm only starting tracking etc so if takes time I don't mind as I'm trying to buy a house, finish exams etc. If it happens I'll manage because all this should be finished in 9 months!! But all the people I know who got pregnant at difficult times managed just fine and wouldn't turn back the clock. There's never a perfect time in my opinion!

My husband and I have been married for a year, just purchased a house, he owns his own business and I have a stable job. The thought of starting a family was an exciting one and something we looked forward to. Our first month ttc ... We did! Now it's very surreal and you start to think about everything down the road. It's scary but it's going to be so worth it. It doesn't feel real right now, but it will. Someone once told me that that babies are born with bread in their pockets. I think you learn and grow as you go and you have 9 months to be as ready as you'll ever be.

My soon to be hubby is finishing up his first year of grad school...I work full-time and have a bachelor's degree.
We are planning to TTC in May...that's before he's done with his second degree. His parents disagree with our decision, but we're going for it anyway.
It's normal to be nervous no matter your circumstances!

Has anyone experienced others being unsupportive of TTC due to your situation?
It hurts. :/

That's unfortunate that they disagree, but ultimately it's your decision and you guys are the ones who will be dealing with it, not them! I haven't had anyone tell me it's not a good idea, most people have been encouraging me to do it but I have been hesitant because of work

I would say we are as ready as we will ever be. I believe if you wait for the perfect time it won't ever come. As long as you're stable & both of you are ready I say that's good enough!

My future mother in law says she's "too young to be a grandma". Which is super hurtful...because it's not my fault she chose to start having kids at 21. Should I have to wait till she's "ready"?

Seharper you do what is right for you and your husband! I can only imagine when I get my BFP that others will be judge mental on how I got there! I am currently a SMBC to a 10 yr old that I adopted when he was 3 and now I am currently TTC with anonymous donor sperm. Having said that: this is right for myself and my son. Do what is right for you guys!!

Excellent question! My husband and I have been married for over 5 years, and we just started TTC 4 months ago. We put it off because we both didn't feel "ready" and had other things we felt needed to be in place. Now that I'm finished with grad school, we both have careers, and a stable home we figured what was there left to wait for? That being said, I think I'll still get a feeling of "OMG how will I do this?" when I finally get that BFP. Good Luck!

I agree with you. By the time you're really ready it's too late to really enjoy that time.
I've worked in countless daycares and most (if not all) parents, who wait till times about up, are exhausted!
Granted all life changes takes adjustment. It seems financially you have the money to do lots but not the energy.
