The dreaded change

Let me preface this post by saying that I know I'm old enough to be about 90% of y'all's mom, but a few of you are at least close in age to me, so bear with an old woman's ramblings for a minute...

Before I got pregnant I asked my dr about it, cause my periods were getting lighter. He said no that my issue was common as I hot older (40 also) then o got preg. And my new dr. Verified after I have baby my cycle would probably be lighter cause they do that when u get older.

What does your doctor think it is if not perimenopause? I hope you get answers soon and that the baby is still a possibility.

I'm right there with you. I just had an appt with my doctor for similar symptoms. My periods being shorter and heavier to name a few. She thinks I'm not going through perimenopause, I however think differently. We're also trying for another baby?.

Thanks, yaya. ? I don't really have an issue with being 40-age has always been just a number to me. And like you, I like who I am at this age. I just don't like my body betraying my mind and my heart. I don't like feeling like I'm not in control of the path I'm walking. I'm hoping some of that discomfort will ease once I talk to the specialist and decide what my next steps are. My emotional response to life is matched only in greatness by my deeply pragmatic personality. Lol

I can't be your little sister but I can be your twin! It was actually easier for me to turn 40 than it was to turn 30. At 40 I feel like I know exactly who I am and I feel settled in my life. I have a confidence I never had in my younger days, despite my gray hair and laugh lines. Plus, I have a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to draw from that will only grow more expansive with time. I'm excited for the next 40 years! If you ever need me, I'm here for you anytime! Hugs!!! ❤

I've been in temporaryMenopause and it just just sucks. I'm almost 37 so very close to 40. My OB gave me a med to shrink my endo and it put me in temporary menopause with all the fun symptoms. The symptoms last me almost 2yrs though. I think what helped me most was venting about it. My Mom was going though real menopause and we'd laugh, cry or vent about it. I think it takes time to wrap your head around it and to find the tricks and supplements that will help you. For me the hot flashes were insane so I took I cool and used a fan like always. These helped take the edge off. I'm glad there are more med options for you. ?

I'm 38. I could have sworn I was going through menopause a few months after having my son. I started getting crazy heavy periods that lasted longer then they used to. Then it started coming early and late. Then after a miscarriage last October it got all weird again. Still very heavy and coming every 2 weeks. Then I started spotting a week before my period would come. I never had problems like this before and my period was always on time. They only good thing that stopped happening after having my son 2 years ago was the horrible cramps stopped. So I got a bunch of blood work done to see where my hormone levels where. They were all normal and fine. And now I'm pregnant with twins. I'm also adopted and don't know when my birth mother started menopause. We are here for you, we all have to go through this at some point in life so you are not alone.

I'm about to be 35 and I'm going through the same, my mom started at 40 and I'm beginning 5 years sooner! I'm okay with being done but I'm not ready bc it means I'm getting old but not ready to feel like it!

I'm 38 and can't imagine going through this already! Sorry op. (Also funny to note that some of the users I usually find myself agreeing with are around my age.) No advice for you, but definitely support. Hugs ?

I'm in that stage, vixter. My cycle is all screwed up and my periods are heavier and heavier. And the mood swings-I literally feel like I'm losing my sanity some days. My mom didn't finish actual menopause until she was 55 or 56, so I know I'm in this for the long haul.

I don't really want to do hormone replacement therapy at this point-call me paranoid, but there are too many unknown factors with it-but the MD I saw yesterday assured me that there are a variety of options, so not to avoid seeing a specialist.

And thanks, hals... the one positive I'm finding right now is the potential of no period. Can't say I would miss it!

And thanks for telling me I'm not old, ladies. I don't feel old and generally speaking, people are shocked that I'm 40 because I don't look it, but this is making me feel my age.

I'm 38. Just wanted you to know you have a buddy in the same age box haha. I'm not sure if menopause is coming for me soon, but hubs is getting a vasectomy in a few weeks so I'm also wrapping my head around the end of my pregnancy days.

I was in your shoes at 37 I had the start of symptoms. Then my af went to every 14-19 days, got heavier and was incredibly painful. Saw a specialist who checked and my FSH levels were higher. I was booked for surgery to help the symptoms and told to take evening primrose oil as they don't like giving HRT here. I was devastated, cried on and off for weeks, yes the mood swings were horrid.

When I missed af I just thought my body had given up, Surprise I'm now 26 weeks pregnant.

My dr explained I had been perimenopausal which can last for up to 10 years before the menopause. Still fertile so it seems. I had just got my head around the change and now face doing so again. I tried to concentrate on the up sides. No AF, no need for contraception (deffo not stopping until years after it's confirmed now), no PMT, no cramps and no hormonal headaches.

So many little sisters! My parents would only give me one little brother, so I'm ecstatic right now! Lol

And, yes, staci. I completely understand your moms frustration-I wanted to say "I'm done". I wanted to come to the conclusion that 2 kids was all I was going to have. I didn't want anyone, including my body, to make that decision for me.

And yes, 2 months in and she's found love with her brother in law?! if that's not shady, I don't know what is.

My sisters are 41 and 43, so I'll add you to the big sister club as well!

My mom started menopause right around 40. She had her last baby (me) at 29 and my dad had a vasectomy. She knew she was done. But there was still something about her body suddenly making the decision FOR her (if that makes sense) that she had a really hard time with. She wasn't ready for the change, either. I think Runs is right... you just have to grieve it.

I'm sorry you're struggling. Vent away! And on a completely unrelated note but maybe it'll take your mind off of it for just a few minutes... did you see that the lady whose husband died on the couch is now dating his brother? ??

40 is not old! It's the new 20. This change you're going through is just part of a new beginning you're going through! Like all change, it takes time to accept! So take your time, embrace the change and the new YOU! And id also see you as big sis considering my 5 brothers and half sis are your age ;).

Like @runs said, you just have to grieve it! Nothing wrong with that.

You aren't old enough to be my mama, but you're old enough to be my sister! I'm about to be 32. ?

I think you grieve it. It's okay to not be okay with it and embracing THAT is what helps accept it.

And you're not old enough to be my mom.... maybe an older sister like my parents didn't plan any more children and oops I came along 8 years later. lol ?

I'm 50, I'm sorry you're going through this so young. I'm still not there yet physically, but realistically I know I shouldn't intentionally attempt to have more children at my age. (This is my personal decision, if another mom wants a baby at 50, I say go for it!) So I'm not in your shoes, but I do get the emotional part of having to adjust to being done when you just don't want to face being done yet.

I'm sorry op, hang in there! (And vent all you want!)

Question: 16 year old dating an q8 year old? Thoughts??

Question: 16 year old dating an q8 year old? Thoughts?? My opinion is hell no. 16 year old is still a kid. Kids now a days want to be grown so bad and be in adult relationships and situations. I know when my daughters are 16 and they tell me they are dating an 18 year old. I will surely flip my lid.
