Dairy allergy
It appears that my daughter (17 days old) has a dairy allergy. I will be calling her pediatrician on Monday, but I need to start eliminating the cause from my diet before then. Any of you who have experience with this, what do I need to stop eating? I know it's the milk proteins, not necessarily lactose, but I'm not sure what all that encompasses. Also, what do I feed her in the mean time? My milk is going to continue to upset her tummy until the dairy is out.

Bumping for idaida1.
The link from mamaof2monkeys is really helpful!
Just for an fyi similac isomil (the pink can) is soy based formula. I hope that just cutting dairy out of your diet works. But just in case I thought I'd let u know. :)
I had the same thing with my son. It takes 4 weeks to be out of your system and another 4 to be out of your childs. Cut out all dairy in all forms including goat, camel etc. You can give a special dairy free formula (im in Australia so had to see a doc to get it. He needed blood tests to prove it too. ) called Alfare. There are others but my son was on this as his was a bad reaction. I was able to pump and dump for 5 weeks and then i tried him again on bf and he was ok right up till someone told me there was no dairy in something and there was. After that he was on formula exclusively to be safe. Now at 2 he can have very small amounts of dairy every now and then with no issues. It was hard and i felt like i had failed my son yet again (hes got a heart condition, dairy/soy/egg allergies and auto immune issues all out of my control) but hes happy and doing very well! I did all i could and it shows as hes actually healthier than the docs ever thought he could be! Hes smashing mile stones at the top for his conditions! You can do it!!! Your an amazing mum!!
It could be intolerance rather than allergy or it could be related to soy wheat or corn all very common.
I've noticed you said your dd was fussy and in pain since she was a newborn...I have one question, besides my dd's mucousy and stinky poos, she's never fussy or gassy. Do u think it's still related to dairy?
I'm still going to start eliminating dairy though just to see if it makes a difference. Thanks again!
Following. Thank you!
Thanks, ladies. We just made it to 6 months and have been given the OK to try and reintroduce dairy. I bumped this for cecelo so she could see the list of dairy related ingredients.
I had to give up dairy from month 2-6 with my son due to him having blood in his stool. I never stopped breastfeeding, I just stopped eating all dairy (as well as soy for 2 months). You don't have to stop breastfeeding. It cleared right up and I was able to start incorporating dairy back into my diet once he reached 6 months.
SO Delicious is a dairy free brand that carries coffee cream, ice cream, yogurt, etc. you might want to check it out. Also, read ALL labels for yourself. Certain things like crackers will contain dairy/soy!!
I just completely eliminated dairy
If the label says parve somewhere, you're good to go. There will be no dairy in the product.
You have to read labels most salad dressings have milk, ice cream, cheese, a lot of pasta sauces have milk or cheese it's really hard I felt like everything I ate had some sort of milk product my son grew out of his milk allergy at 9 months
My nephew had this. My sister just eliminated dairy. Read labels, it gets easier and on top of that you'll be on a super healthy diet ?
Bump for cecelo!
Just read all labels. It becomes second nature. Don't stop nursing. Buy some gripe water to help her tummy in the meantime.
