Working and Breastfeeding

Working and Breastfeeding

For all the moms going back to work and still going to breastfeed when are you starting to pump? My little man will be 4 wks Tuesday and everyone tells me I should be pumping to start my supply. I get upset thinking about having to give him a bottle :(

Id start now too. I always found that pumping one side while my little one nursed the other side gave me more...the nursing helps with the let down. next feed switch and put baby on other side and pump opposite side. Just make sure you stay hydrated when doing this. You may not get a lot at first but it will build your supply in just 1-2 days.

Thanks! So pump right after he eats or wait a bit? I think I have a lot of milk too.

I'd start once a day now after you nurse to up production a bit and get supply going. I waited last time until a few weeks before I went back. It's less stressful if you have a good stock pile by then. This time I started when my milk came in as I over produce anyways so pumping made it more comfortable.

Breastfeeding moms: so I am planning on going on a 3 day vacation with my hubby & a bunch of friends to Catalina in May, (my baby won't be going with us) and I do not wanna be pumping and dumping every 2 hours out there.. so if I don't pump or breastfeed for 3-4 days, will my milk supply drop significantly? 😩😩 & I don't know how I'm gonna deal with the engorgement pain if I can't find time to pump out there.
