Breastfeeding moms: so I am planning on going on a 3 day vacation with my hubby & a bunch of friends to Catalina in May, (my baby won't be going with us) and I do not wanna be pumping and dumping every 2 hours out there.. so if I don't pump or breastfeed for 3-4 days, will my milk supply drop significantly? 😩😩 & I don't know how I'm gonna deal with the engorgement pain if I can't find time to pump out there.
Why not just pump every 4 or so hours while on vacation? That way you keep the supply while there and dont lose the milk, but dont feel like you have to pump every hour or so that's not realistic on a vacation. I would pump every 5 hrs or so just to make sure the milk stays around. But make sure you have a ton of milk in the freezer for when you get back and are building supply again!
@mommastone, that's awesome. you don't work or go to school!?
Same! I plan on not going more than 2 years. I would prefer around like 14-16 months or so because I want to wean slowly.
@mommastone, but breastfeeding is so rewarding and I love that intimate bond
@mommastone, when do you plan on stopping? and yes totally agree!!
Same here. I am going on almost 7 months! It gets hard when he relies on me if I want to go out for more than 2 hrs without him.
@mommastone, yes!! its been easy since all I do right now is stay at home w the baby but now that me and hubby wanna go to a nice vacation for a few days... i am realizing just how hard breastfeeding is! haha. ty
It's hard to adjust to life with a baby that's for sure!! It seems you want to continue to breastfeed so I know you can make it work. ;) 😍
@mommastone, yes. thank you 😍 I just needed a little support from you breastfeeding mamas :) I got this! I'll push through. and yes! I am going to need to pump a lot of milk so I can save up for my bfs mom to feed my baby while I'm gone those 3-4 days. ❤
I agree with the above! It will benefit your baby so much if you keep at it! I would pump before so you have milk for her before the trip. And pump there. You got this! It's the best thing in the world breastfeeding. ☺️
@aek91, that's so true. I can't explain how amazing it feels to be able to have that bond with my baby while breastfeeding.. wish it could last forever. thanks mama (: I'm gonna try my best to keep breastfeeding , even if its hard pumping while I'm on vacayyyy
because of the bond we had it was awesome that's why I'm glad I got to 12 months with my last baby
honestly I would just try to make the effort to keep your supply up you'll regret that you didn't. I stopped at 3 months with my second & I regretted it honestly
he was 1 already & I was already pregnant so he had no choice
@aek91, I can't stand the feeling of being engorged. maybe I will try my hardest to just pump out there .. its only like 10-15 mins in the restroom..
a week or so it took me about 3-4 days to not feel engorged when I weaned my son but I was still feeding once a day until I just finally stopped altogether
@aek91, true. well how long does it take for my boobs to stop producing milk if I choose to wean..
@amaresmama, i have both.. but its not realistic for me to keep going to the bathroom to pump .. I wanna enjoy my vacation ): but I don't wanna stop breastfeeding her either. I guess I'll have to choose.
you could take a manual pump & just slip away to the bathroom pump real quick, because I mean either way you're gonna be in tons of pain for sure
if you got a manual pump or a portable pump you can actually pump while you're out there or if not then wean her like you said
@toooldforthis81, maybe I will have to start weaning her before I leave then😩
@toooldforthis81, well, we are not gonna be at the beach house most of the day.. we will be out doing activities.. drinking.. etc.
can't you pump and save it? she won't be eating quite as often by then... I am going to a music festival in may but I am going to carry my pump with me and pump in the car on the way there and back and I am not going to stay as long each day as I might have if I didn't have the baby
@aek91, I don't want that happening but.. its unrealistic to think I can pump out there on schedule): damn, idk what to do
@missa7, I don't know what I'm gonna do then): maybe wean her off before may? but then she will only be 5 months old..
definitely if you don't pump your supply will either go down or dry up
@brwneydgirly25, idk what I'm gonna do.. its just kinda impossible to be pumping out there every two hours. I'll be doing activities out there :/
@brwneydgirly25, that is another thing I'm worried about.. right now I'm unable to go even two hours without having to feed her bc of my boob engorgement.
I would be more concerned with the pain.. when I weaned my 2 year old I thought my boobs were gonna explode.. it hurt so so so bad.. lol.. I do however think it may cause a dip in your milk production.. @mommytomia
Trigger. Lost baby
Went in for my 20 week check up and found out our son had passed away. Nothing was wrong, my pregnancy has been going great. I'm so numb right now. I'll he delivering him later this week. I don't want to do this. I don't want to do this. Not before Christmas. How am I'm going to tell my kids?? My dear sweet baby boy. Why did this happen?
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...
So my bf just beat the hell out of my dog and idk what to do now. I want to leave but don't have my paper yet to take my dog with me anywhere I go
20 days to my due date and yesterday I was 1 cm dilated. I’m so ready to be a mama to my baby. But she’s so not wanting to come out. Anyone have tips, to get my baby out?
(Thread Closed) Let’s go out with a bang
Let all the dramas unfold! I blame Jessica Alba
@tahtahme, ok:) good idea! so the milk wont go bad on the way back from the trip? its about 2-3 hours I believe .
