Someone hold me back
Seriously though I'm about two seconds from going verbally postal on a relative. Let me start by saying, this is my dh's uncle T we'll call him. We've always got along. He's a nice guy. Good family man. Fun to be around ect. Never had a problem with him.

I would continue to ignore him, or just block him all together. You can share things with only certain people if you don't want him commenting anymore. Arguing with people like that is like talking to a brick wall. You're just adding fuel to the fire.

The way you described his attitude seems like somewhat arrogant. So sorry. He might actually be a wonderful man. Only you truly know that.
When it comes to politics people are pretty firm on their decision and beliefs. Like my Mama P said, it would probably be like talking to a brick wall. No matter what you say, in his mind, he's going to be right regardless.
When it comes to politics, I've learned to just keep my opinions to myself. I can understand 100% that you posted something nice. I would have done the same if I like it. No biggie. ☺
Like you said though, he knew what the content was so he didn't HAVE to comment. So sorry something like that would cause conflict in your family. ?

Yes we're both LDS. His wife's so mad at him she isn't speaking to him?. DH told him he needs to apologize and not to him but to me. It's nothing about his politics. I couldn't care less. It's the fact that on numerous occasions he's basically called me a brainwashed idiot. Now I may be many things, but stupid I am not.
I'm just going to let it be unless he bugs me again I suppose. I'm trying to be a good Christian and turn the other cheek, but sometimes is just so tempting to strike back, you know?

And I fully agree. This elections has really brought out the ugly side of people. Guess that's why I'm so shocked. I had a much higher opinion of him before. I never thought he'd speak this disrespectfully to me let alone in a public forum.

When people continually comment on my posts and argue with me or insult me, I either delete them or change my privacy settings so they can't see my posts anymore. I think you've fed into this way too long and allowed him to continue disrespecting you, you should've shut this down a very long time ago. At this point you should just block him and move on

Lol great scriptures, but I'm fairly certain that would just make things worse at this point. If he want to talk and apologize, fine we'll talk. Until then though, I'll just keep my mouth closed. Contention is of the Devil, and I prefer to keep that complication out of my life as much as possible ?

I agree with ignoring him. I'm going through this same thing right now with my sisters fiancé. God forbid we have different views and be polite about it right? But with people like that, there's nothing you can say or do. They see it their way and only their way.

I'm sorry he is acting this way. Not all those who participate in politics are jerks and arrogant.
I'd just block him for now until he can calm down. ?

I think blocking him might make things even worse right now. I'm sure you don't want family drama. I tend to avoid it, anyway. Unless the person has REALLY gone out of line. This is just political crap in my opinion and some people get a bit nasty about it and pissed off when others don't share their opinions.
I would ignore it.

Just block him..I have a very conservative cousin-in law and she would jump on every post mind you I'm not overly political, but consider myself an independent moderate. Luckily I'm no longer on Facebook and thus have no need to swerve the loonies anymore ???
