AWFUL. It made me fat and hairy. Gave me breakouts. I bled 24/7. I only got it like three times.

Total nightmare. I had ONE shot, missed one cycle and bled for ATLEAST 6 months afterwards. I also gained weight.

It is horrible, non stop bleeding and it also damages your bones leading to earlier arthritis, brittle bones osteoporosis not to mention it damages the muscles it's injected into. There's actually a push to have it banned because the damage it causes is now starting to come out. If I had known about it sooner I never would have gotten it, my teeth were the first to be affected and got extremely weak within a yr of getting the shots and now at 27 I have arthritis. Seriously don't get it, do your research and advise your sister to find something else, maybe the implant in the arm or an IUD.

I bled so much that I lost 10 pounds a month for 4 months from being so sick. I continued to bleed for 7 months after 1 shot. Yes, I lost weight, but it wasn't worth it. I'm horrified of that shot now. Everyone's bodies are different but I wouldn't personally recommend it.

It’s awful I gained a lot of weight very moody and took me 2 yrs to get my body back to normal

I bled for almost a year straight with depo and still got pregnant after never missing a shot.

Depo made me gain weight.

That’s strange I have only heard of weight gain with the depo shot my friend gained 60 pounds on it in the first year.

@serena u only got one shot and still took ur body a year to get back to normal??

I have never had any issues with it. I was on it for years got off and got pregnant soon after. I got back on it after dd was born and I don't have any bad side effects. It affects everyone differently, do your research, the make a decision.

Nope never again. Got one shot and never went back. I gained weight, was irritable, and it took me almost a year after to get pregnant again.

It was horrible for me, gained about 20kgs in 3 months, destroyed my libido, messed with my regular cycle (took over 12 months to correct after stopping depo)

It worked great for me. My best friend gained 50 pounds in 3 months. It really depends on the person.

So far I like it. No issues. I'm 7 months pp.

It work for some but not for others. Just depend on your body.

I didn't get a period for well over a year including the nine months I was on it. It made me feel pregnant and I hated it. Plus I gained alot of weight on the shot. I will never get it again.

Dont do it i went from a size 7 to 14 in months!!!!!!!!! Please stay away from the depo it also causes osteoporosis!

I thought depo was known for weight gain?

It’s terrible! Absolutely terrible! It took over a year for my body to get back to my normal cycle. While I was on it I was super moody, gained weight, and my libido went to crap. I wouldn’t get it.

I've only heard of people gaining weight on it and nothing but horror stories about bleeding, hair loss, anxiety, mood swings all around.

Freaking horrible. Non stop and random bleeding. Moody AF.

I personally loved it. No periods, no weight gain, no acne, and it took me 2 months off to get pregnant.

The depo is AWFUL in many ways. Really read up on it before you make that decision. If the only reason you are considering it is for weight loss - look at other options.
