Question regarding filing taxes.

Question regarding filing taxes.

Ok so someone told me that I should wait until baby is born to file my taxes that way I can claim her. I wanted to get other opinions so I asked around. My aunt told me I'm cutting it close because I'm not due until the end of march and the last day to file is April 15 and I might not get her social in time. Then one of my coworkers said that I can't claim her because it's 2011 taxes and how am I going to claim her if she wasn't even born yet. Sounds legit but is that true?

@marietee, you might want to tell your aunt she can get in HUGE trouble for claiming her baby that didn't exist in 2011 for her 2011 taxes. It's tax fraud and she could get put in jail for it. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. And probably don't follow any tax advice from her in the future. :)

remember also you can now adjust your W-4 for exemptions since you will get a tax credit. i adjusted my Hubby's this morning since this is our 3rd baby.

Like pp said, Can't claim baby on 2011 taxes of you weren't paying for its needs in 2011. Which you weren't because the baby wasn't born by December 31st. But next year, we will all get nice returns :)

Also, on a side note, I believe tax due date is extended to April 17th because the 15th is a Sunday and Monday is a D.C. holiday (emancipation day?). At least that is what I heard on the radio.

Lol it was actually my bfs aunt that told me that cuz she's doing it to (she's also due in march). I didn't even really think about it till the other day and I was like waitttt that makes no sense. But since she's family I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt. Lol

I need some help/knowledge on child support and taxes?! Her father pays child support monthly.. My daughter lives with me, I haven't filed my taxes yet. I'm planning on doing it this weekend. My ex just texted me and said - "Hey my dad is doing my taxes for me and he needs ur social security number n your full name, cause I need to claim back some of the taxes from the child support. And he said u can still claim Mia it won't affect it he already asked the tax people. So if u can send it over that be great thanks." However, when I googled it...I found out child support is outside of taxes. I FEEL like he's lying to me to try to get my social so he can claim our daughter. Anyone know?!

So I live with my mom and I'll be 19 this month. My boyfriend also lives with me and we have a 1 year old daughter together. So my mom just told me I'm not allowed to file taxes because I live with her and that she's claiming me and my daughter. I worked from may - December and at one point had 3 jobs but she's saying because I don't live in my own house I can't file. I think she's trying to screw me over to get more money. She says I was a full time student LAST year and she can claim me, but I only went end of January - June and I worked may - December. I provide everything for my daughter (her dad works as well) and we pay my mom around $250-300 a month in rent although she has hud and gets free rent. The tax money was what we planned on using to move but now she's trying to ruin it..... someone please help! I'm in CA if that makes a difference

Damn my ex won't quit. Now he got his mama texting me, telling me they need MY social security number and full name. I tried explaining to her he won't get anything back in tax return money for paying child support, but she keeps trying to force me to give them my information. I'm too nice but damn they need to stay in their lane. I already filed and claimed her..
