Mayim Bialik breastfed her son til he was 4! It not fair to judge. A mothers job is to do whatever it takes to care for our babies. To each their own.

The World Health Organization recommends breastfeeding until the age of 2 or beyond if the parent and child wish to. It's not weird or inappropriate, it's extremely healthy and is actually the MOST appropriate nourishment for a baby or toddler. What an idiot.

I commented to another member on her post and suddenly was attacked on it and via personal messages. Ignored her on the website and now she can't message me and even better I can't see her posts!

I bf my son until right before his second birthday. If you are ready to wean, you can try cutting out one feeding at a time, keep the ones he uses for soothing/snuggling as the last, but cut the daytime ones. That's what worked for me. Keep in mind if he's sick or teething it will jump back up to all the time.

Omg I can't believe how ignorant some people are about breast feeding and someone claiming to be an RN no less. @mrs you really should inform yourself appropriately about both breast and bottle feeding since you are expecting a child...which is what we're all here for support as MOTHERS this isn't everyone's first pregnancy so how dare you say to anyone that they aren't allowed to post for help or advice about their kids! If this grosses you out I can only imagine what else might offend you throughout these 9 months. Get over it!

After reading the comments above, I am so proud to be apart of this group! I love how we stand up for each other. Everyone parents differently. I'm sure she would say nasty things about my kid sleeping in between my husband and I every night. It works for us. You sound like a great mommy for letting him nurse as long as he needs to :)

Anyways, I'm still nursing my 15 month old and really wanting to night wean too lol I need him sleeping through the night before the new baby comes! Im wanting to totally wean before I give birth but if nursing him and baby at the same time helps him bond with baby and helps me give him the attention he needs I will tandem nurse for a while

The "please"s are irresistible! I am also still nursing my 19 month old and thinking about weaning. Anyone have any advice on how long before baby #2 is born to wean? My daughter LOVES to nurse and still will ask for it throughout the day, so I don't anticipate it being easy...

Give him time and he will self wean. My daughter did at 13 mo. I feel bad for the uneducated, ignorant woman that is disgusted by it. Breastfeeding is amazing and you are a great mother! Keep it up! =]

Hey mymisa, I'm still nursing my 31 month old! GASP. Haha I can't believe that person is so uninformed and rude. Anyway... I've been thinking about night weaning too and it is REALLY hard:/ lately she's been calling my milk funny or icky so I am hoping she does self wean (because IT DOES HAPPEN) soon. GL I hope we get it figured out soon!

Mrsharrup is just pain rude! Obviously she has no kids and does not know the benefits of breast feeding! You do what you think is best for your baby! The only thing disturbing is her knowledge of breast feeding and the advice she's giving!

I'm a certified breast feeding counselor, a labor and delivery nurse, and I breastfed my first son until he WEANED HIMSELF (I'm talking to you mrsharrup) my son weaned himself from the breast fairly early at 14 months, each kid is different and each mom is different, congratulations on successfully breast feeding for 20 months, breast milk is by far the best thing you can give to your babies and toddlers!!!

Jeez people are so rude! Not everyone parents the same! There is no rule that says that you must ween when they can talk. Studies suggest that nursing longer helps with the brain and immunity development of the child. If you aren't comfortable with it then don't do it but don't bash her for her decisions...

My DD weaned rather easily at 13months... I thought it would be harder but I just did mornings and nights, then nights, and then every other night till she was done.

Don't let anyone say anything rude to you. Good for you for nursing that long. If my son had latched correctly and taken to the breast, he'd still be nursing at 16 months. I nursed as a baby till I was almost 3 and I have one of the best immune systems of all my friends and family. The health benefits far outweigh the negativity of others.

That woman is a troll. She either doesn't have kids or never breastfed. Some kids refuse to take a bottle, even if it's breast milk.

It is perfectly fine to breast feed a 20 mnth old and even older. Give your baby the best chance you can by insuring that they receive best nutrition. In my opinion nothing beats breast milk. I know that in some cases the taste of the breastmilk changes during pregnancy and the baby can taste it, leading to self weaning. Maybe this will be the case with you. My son self weaned around 14 months. It was a sad and joyous day lol.

I'd say a boob is WAY healthier than a bottle for a 20 month old.

I apologize for all the rude people with rude comments. Good for you for nursing that long! Mom nursed all of us till 24 months so I think it's totally healthy:) I hope it gets easier for you soon cuz it's hard dealing with the whining...

It's ok! Families ween at different times. Good for you for sticking with bf so long - it's not easy but it's what's best for baby. And good for him to learn a new word! :-)

I'm sorry but that's just messed up. He should have a bottle at 20 months old thats VERY disturbing.

And kids don't wean themselves. The parent does that.

Ok umm how old is this kid? If he's talking he shouldn't even still be going at your breast. I'm sorry but that's just odd.

He is 20 months, and I'm worried too because I do not want to tandem nurse. I already get nursing anxiety with just one lol sometimes I just can't stand it. Hoping he'll wean himself soon.

How sweet! I couldn't have refused either. How old is your son? Mine just made a year and nurses all night as well. I'm worried about what will happen when the new baby comes :(
