High blood pressure
Blood pressure is 148/92 and I'm 37w2d. They're taking it again tomorrow morning and if it's high again they're making me go to L&D and get induced. I can't stop crying which I know is probably making it worse. I did NOT want to be induced but of course I will do what's best for him. I should have of known this could happen, my mother and all her sisters had preeclampsia. So did a couple of my cousins. Even my DNA report said I'm at a higher risk of preeclampsia and hypertension.
I'm having a homebirth with a midwife and my blood pressure has been high for awhile. 143-153/91-100 my midwife makes me lay down on my left side and rest, she has increased my protein, made me use some essential oils, take magnesium and calcium and guess what? my bp has came down 138/89 or so.. This weekend I missed my pills, essential oils, protein and couldn't lay down and rest because my son had football games so by Monday my BP was high again but I started all my stuff and sure enough we got it back down.
My midwife will make me sit, take deep breathes, relax and kind of get in a good mental place before taking my bp and that also helps.
Praying your bp comes down or that they allow you to atleast try to get it down before they induce you.
Your in good hands, try to calm down and I'll pray that baby gets to cook a little longer!
I'm trying to relax but it's hard! Nesting has kicked in full force because I know he might be here soon and I've also been trying to make sure everything is good to go for my hospital bag.
Yes meditation, yoga, deep breathing! Try to relax and rest as much as possible tonight. Drink fluids and reduce salt. Do some deep breathing right before you go in tomorrow.
I would ask about checking your urine for protein before going straight to induction. But preeclampsia isn't something to mess with. Good luck!!
Thanks ladies! You make me feel 100x better. I still hope things go well tomorrow but I guess it won't be so bad if I get to meet him a little sooner. My doula told me not to eat any salt tonight and try meditating and deep breathing.
Man, I'm SO sorry! That's not something anyone wants to hear in the 11th hour. Perhaps try to focus on what good care and learning you have done during this journey. You know that your body is not a lemon. It's more than capable of delivering a baby (induced or not), it just has special needs right now. And your doula is there to walk alongside you and not only keep you safe but as close to your vision as possible. Sending out good vibes to you, mama. You got this.

And honestly, birth is just one dot on a massive journey in motherhood. It's really hard to realize until you've gone thorough it but one day you will look at your gorgeous kid and everything but their birth will be what comes to mind. The love is just unreal. ✌️?
This happened to me my first pregnancy during the same 37 week time frame. They put me on bedrest for a day. The next day I went back in to be checked and it was still high so they said we had to induce because of the danger to my own body and to the baby. Everything happens for a reason! I was super nervous and upset about being induced but I had a FANTASTIC birth and it was only 8 hours. No complications and baby did great. Sending lots of positive vibes your way!
I wish they could at least wait until 39 weeks! Fingers crossed, but she seemed pretty set in sending me if it's high again. She didn't even say anything about checking for protein.
Thanks for the support ladies! I know it will be okay, I just had an initial freak out. I feel better now that I'm home on my couch drinking a cold glass of milk.
It's a really tricky area. My consultant looks for anything over 150/90, but another consultant I saw looks for anything over 160/100. They can do blood tests to see if your urate is high, but if you feel fine in yourself and protein etc is fine you might be able to hold off induction for a little while. Either way, just remember you are a strong woman who obviously loves her baby more than anything. Whatever happens you and little man will be fine.
It was 120/90 at my last appointment at 35 weeks and every time before that was 117-119/82 I believe.
They took it twice and it was 136/92 after I sat and rested for a bit. They said anything over 140 or 90 they want to induce me though since I'm 37 weeks now :(
Aww don't cry girl. My cousin had a baby a few months ago and had to be induced because of high blood pressure. Hers was extremely high tho, they gave her Meds for it but they didn't work so she was induced at 39 weeks. Just try to stay calm and think positive so it doesn't get worse. You'll be okay! ??
I've had high blood pressure all the way through, honestly yours isn't that high. PP is right though, white coat syndrome is very real, my BP at home is normal, same at my midwife appts, when I see my consultant it goes high. Some things that help me are taking 5 deep breaths in through the nose and out through your mouth before they start the machine, then breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth as they take it, close your eyes and block everything out, just concentrate on your breath. If your reading is high, ask for a few minutes and do it again
My blood pressure is high I'm getting induced ladies ahh yay!!! 😊🎉🎉🎉🙈👏🏻
Would they induce you if your blood pressure was consistently high (130-140/90-100) but your preeclampsia work up was consistently negative?
Well I have news. My blood pressure was high today at my doctors appointment and they checked me. Said I was 2cm dilated and 70% effaced! I'm at L&D to be monitored, if my blood pressure doesn't go down, I'll be induced. If it goes down, I'll be going home. But 2cm and 70% effaced?! WOOHOO! Just so grateful to make progress!
‼️QUESTION‼️
I have been monitoring my blood pressure but I was wondering what is "too high" for the top number and "too high" for the bottom number also what's a good heart rate average
Keep us updated!!! Hoping for the blood pressure to go down but ultimately whatever's best for you & baby to be safe is what's more important! Just relax & pray. I have to be induced also ☹️ in 5 days because baby girl is comfy
