Breastfeeding when baby gets teeth

Breastfeeding when baby gets teeth

How bad is it to breastfeed once the baby starts getting teeth? I know I'm thinking far ahead but it keeps popping up in my head lol.

I breastfed my first for 2 years 4 months and he never bit me ... intentionally lol He did a couple of times on accident when I'd leave him latched on after he'd fall asleep (reflex, etc.). It was painful, but luckily he wasn't a biter (nor is my daughter, who is now 2 years 2 months, and still nursing).

Thanks guys! Makes it less scary to think about. Funny that I'm more scared of a baby biting my boob than actual labor lol.

It wasn't bad at all! My dd bit me only once when she didn't have teeth and it hurt sooo bad. I jumped and yelped and scared the crap out of her. I felt bad but she never did it again.

If ur latch is good they can't bite u! When lo started biting I started making sure latch was deep so he couldn't bite as they use tongue to massage milk from breast. Other times u get to know when they gna bite so unlatch quick lol if he did bite me I'd put him down n firmly say no.. worked at times ?

My son only bit me at first then I gave him the look and he stopped and smiled. Never did it again. It's not bad at all as long as your baby isn't a biter. Not all babies are.

It only happened once to me. It startled me pretty bad and I unlatched her quickly. Never happened again, thankfully.

You just need to pay attention during the feeds I found. He only would bite at the end of a feed or when falling asleep. Its really not too bad

It's not bad - my lo bit me once and when he saw my reaction he never did it again :) if they are feeding properly teeth don't get in the way, try not to worry! Xx

We never dealt with biting... hopefully this baby will be the same! She would change her latch when teeth were coming through which kinda felt like "rubbing" me wrong, but it passed once the tooth broke through.

Only time DD really "bit me" was when she was sick & SUPER fussy. It was more of my nipple being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

And there have been a handful of times she's clamped down when she was asleep. THOSE hurt. Thankfully in 5 years it's really only been a few times.

I've nursed my 3 girls for 14 months, 2.5 years, and 3.5 years. The only time teeth were ever an issue was when they would start falling asleep and then bite down if I didn't get them off quickly enough.

It's not bad once you get past the initial coming in. They just adjust their latch and they don't seem to bother. I'm still nursing my 16 month old he has 13 teeth AND my nipples are tender from pregnancy but his teeth don't bother me.

I breastfed until my son was 3, he bit me once when he just started getting teeth. It wasn't too bad I just had to make sure he understood that biting equals no boob. It was a quick lesson to learn.

Each of my babies only bit me twice and I nursed #1 until 17 months and #2 until 20 months so it was rare. It was a little painful but nothing horrible.

It's not bad, there will be times baby will clamp down with either gums or teeth lol! Teeth aren't used so much with sucking. With my son the only time he ever really "bit" is if he wanted to be nosey and turn his head to see what was going on with my nip still in his mouth. ?
