Cloth diapers

Who has used them before? I don't think I would use them exclusively (I don't think I would want to be out in public and not be able to throw away a diaper if he soils it) but I'm thinking about buying some for when we are at the house to save money! I'm just wondering what anyone else's experience has been. How hard are they to keep clean? And how disgusting is it? Or if you do use cloth exclusively, what do you do with the diaper if you're in public and he/she soils it?

. Saved money and the planet and she never had rashes or irritation...

Definitely ask your daycare. AIOs & even pockets are literally no different than disposables for caretakers in regards to diaper changes. Only difference is sposies are thrown in their trash & cloth would be tossed in the wet bag you provide.

In actuality cloth reduces your caretakers waste.

Some daycares will not do cloth diapers. Just a good question to ask when you are looking. I watch several kids in my home and I will only do disposables because of convenience for me.

I am definitely interested in trying them too but I don't know if I could commit fully since it is my first baby. I'll probably start with small too and see how I like it! Thanks for all the suggestions.

I've never used them before. But I am getting a small stash and wanting to try them for just at home use to save a little.

Also, bought mostly BG pockets used via FB cloth diaper groups. So cheap!

Cloth exclusively. My kid is 2 and hope to potty train her before baby #2 is born! Not more gross than regular dipes, for the most part. Love not having to buy diapers!!

We cloth diaper exclusively.

With our last we preferred pocket diapers & then learned about fitteds *swoon*

This time I'm building a newborn stash of AIO, fitteds, & prefolds. Enough for 24-30 diaper changes so I'm not doing laundry every day. The vast majority of our dipes will be second hand.... especially since newborn dipes don't get a lot of wear but still have a lot of life in them.

Once baby is a bit older you don't go through quite as many a day.

The only time we opted for sposies was on trips.... simply bc packing cloth diapers does take up significantly more space. Lol.

Breastfed poop doesn't have to be pre-rinsed before washing so as long as you're breastfeeding exclusively washing is pretty easy & painless. :)

I've bought 6 different brands and all different kinds...so far, I like the Charlie banana pockets but I'm sure baby will tell me which we will be using. I'm going to try and use cloth 90% of the time.

Just thought I would add that the first few months my dd only pooped once a week which is normal for some babies and now at a year she only poops once a day. We use cloth exclusively and almost never have a poop diaper out of the house. I just keep a wet bag in my trunk and another in the stroller.

We will be cloth diapering. I plan on using flushable liners when we're on the go.

I do cloth almost exclusively until about the 12 month mark. No blow outs and I never run out. I use ragababes...it's not so gross.

I'm going to do cloth but this is my first. I just thought I'd also mention that you can use disposable liners with cloth diapers and get the best of both worlds.

My mother did cloth-only with my eldest sister and used flushable liners (specifically prefolds and covers - they didn't have pockets and all-in-ones when she had my siblings and I). She's given me a lot of pointers and said that using disposable liners made it really easy.

To my knowledge, you can use Viva brand paper towels as disposable liners and it's really cheep, holds up really well, and catches the poo better than some of the disposable liners made for cloth diapers.

Also: till they start on baby food/solids, the diapers can be thrown right in the wash because breast milk/formula poo is totally water soluble (I'm not sure how much I like that idea myself, but it does make it very convenient for the first six months).

Hope that helps!

We use cloth exclusively. I prefer pocket diapers. If we are out, dirty diapers go in a "wet bag" which is a waterproof bag that keeps dirty away from everything else. You just wash them with the diapers. It's really not that bad.

I love using cloth. At home I just use covers and prefold inserts. I have a couple pocket diapers I use for outings so I can just fold them back up and snap them and stick them in a little wet bag. Washing them is not hard. And I've never had a poop blowout using cloth. I used disposables with my oldest because we were in an apartment and the newborn poop was always shooting up out of the back of the diapers or blasting out the leg holes.

I used to use disposables until my little ones were 10 months and 23 months my 23 month old would out wet every disposable so I tried cloth I stated with pockets and covers with prefolds they are a lot more work then all in one's (aio). I use aio now they are just as easy as a disposable just snap it on and go I have many brands. I started with cheapy brands and microfiber they leak a lot faster then the better brands and bamboo there are some Facebook pages that helped me a lot if you would like the names I would be happy to help everyone has to start some place if they want to try them :)

Gross sometimes lol. We use them at home some days but we use honest disposable on the go. I have the baby bun genius and the thirstes. I do have two other brands but I can't remember the names. Join the cloth diaper group and also YouTube videos help. We have a little spray nozzle I attach to the toilet to clean the inserts.

We cloth diaper! And use disposables when we're out. Otherwise they make water proof bags called wet bags to store them until you get home. There's many different types of cloth diapers also. We use pockets personally. I'd look on YouTube at some videos of the types and how to use and wash them.

There is a cloth diapering group on here that might be able to better answer your questions! We plan on Cloth Diapering this baby full time, but it's my first baby so I don't have much advice.

Y'all!! So on another app a lady posted that she had heard some ppl don't use baby wipes when their baby has just a pee diaper? Is this a thing? I personally use wipes at every diaper change, I just think there would be pee left behind if I didn't...

1
amysbabies The only time I didn’t wipe for a pee diaper is if I had to change her
