adult vaccines

So I decided to go back to school full time and got an email today saying I need to be fully vaccinated. I called my last college and I am up to date but need a tdap and a chicken pox I think. Is this a new thing? I respect both sides of vaxing but hate feeling like if I decline I can't enroll. I am on the line about them since my son had an adverse reaction to either tdap or pnemmonical.

There is usually a paper you can sign opting out of vaccinations for college. I signed it and did not have to take them. The main reason is that I have no idea where to find my childhood vaccination records. I don't even know the name of my doctor....

you should be able to ask about it at the registrars office.

Its a common requirement. Has been since forever ago.

Contact you pcp and get copies of your vaccination record.

Yeah I had to be up to date on all of my vaccines when I went back to school a couple of years ago.

Most states have exemptions, which include college attendance.

I needed to be up to date on vaccines when I started college in 2011. If you have any concerns or questions you can call whichever office is in charge of checking immunization records & talk with them, they're usually very helpful.

I'm not sure if it's normal, but I've always had to be fully vaccinated and ahead on my vaccines, to go to school. I'm an immigrant, so I know some of my requirement were different than American citizens requirements. But for me it was normal. I actually have double vaccines, but that's a whole other story.

I had to be fully vaccinated to attend college in 2003-2007.
