Did anyone get the Tdap vaccine? I had never heard of it before yesterday but the specialist recommended it.

And also declined it while I was pregnant I don’t agree with putting anything in my body while pregnant that can wait until I am no longer pregnant

I wouldn’t get it. (Put me in labor. At 29 weeks pregnant with my son) not getting it this time around I also told my OB Dr and she agreed with me that it wasn’t necessary

Interesting. In my case, a lot hinges on what the intended parents think. Its mostly up to them.

Just like it was up to them when I got the amniocentesis.

@tiger.stripes.n.scars I've never heard of it putting someone in labor before

Yes! The whooping cough is deadly in babies. Anything to protect my daughter

It’s up to you. Some people get it and do fine, others can have bad reactions. You should be able to ask your doctor as many questions as you want about the shot to help you make your decision. I got it when I was 28 weeks and I didn’t have any big issues just some sore muscles where I got it for a week or two. When it comes to these decisions when pregnant it’s always best to talk to your doctor and figure out what you think is best for you and your baby.

@mississippi.mama, yeh it did me luckily hospital L&D was able to stop it cus I wasn’t dilated
A·
@jessjanet32 if you're adopting out, you have to do what the parents want.

Personally I chose not to because my baby is due in the summer when whooping cough cases are much much lower
If I were to have had a baby at the beginning of flu season, I would have considered it as it’ll protect baby for the first few weeks before their jabs as whooping cough is very serious and can kill babies
It all depends on when you are due and how comfortable you feel Hun xx

It protects the baby from whooping cough between birth and when they can get the vaccine themselves. I've also never heard of it causing early labor.

@ccouture1127 In my case it's slightly different since I'm a surrogate, so the decision isn't all mine. Its my body but its their baby. I ran it by them and they're gonna get back to me, after they look into it.

@mississippi.mama I'm a surrogate, but you're right. Its all about what the parents want.
A·
@jessjanet32 Ah, gotcha. My cousin went through the adoption process the same time I was pregnant with my son, so we talked a lot about how that works, what the parents want and such.

I got it with my previous two and this one as well. Whatever makes you feel comfortable. Just a heads up, your arm will feel sore for a week though, at least mine did. 😟

@mississippi.mama Yep. Unless it puts my health at risk in some way, I really don't have much say in it.
A·
@jessjanet32 Right.

I got it. It protects against the whooping cough. Ive also never heard of it causing early labor but everyone reacts differently
A·
I got it because I'm a carrier of Pertussis. I had it as an adult and almost died, I'd never want that for my babies.
Christine R ·
@jessjanet32, that makes total sense. I just think it’s a decision everyone has to make based on knowledge. I’m glad the parents are looking into it.

Yes, simply because I’d rather baby and I be protected. I’ve gotten it both pregnancies with no adverse effects. My arm was super sore for a few days but that’s all.

I am a nurse so I had it before because I worked in an acute respiratory unit. However, u should get it everytime u are pregnant anytime after 28 weeks I think. It helps protect them from whooping cough. Anyone that is going to be around ur newborn as a caretaker in the first 2 to 3 months should also be vaccinated. Once an adult has been vaccinated as an adult then they should be set.

This is some great information, y'all. I'm curious as to what the parents are going to decide.

@jessjanet32... Yes ma'am! I got it with both of mines and any adult that will be close to baby should as well... Daddy and grandma did and it's good for them for like 10 yrs I believe. Btw.. We are neighbors!

I'm interested in knowing if they will have will you get it and if they themselves will get it? @jessjanet32 😊 Do you know the parents?

@scidg3 I only met them when this all started so I don't know them that well. I'm curious, too.
